Brighter Futures Start Here
We are an inclusive team who power two of the most iconic and loved brands, Kmart and Target. We have more than 50,000 passionate individuals across our stores, distribution centres, and offices around the globe.
With our brands touching the lives of almost two million customers every week, you’ll feel the impact of the work you’ll do every day. As a leader in the retail market, we’re optimistic about our future and yours. We’re changing at a rapid rate, giving you challenging work that you’ll be proud of.
Join the team
Kmart Group is building a new retail media capability across both Kmart and Target. By bringing together our high-intent shopping journeys, supplier partnerships and extensive digital and physical retail estate, we have an opportunity to create relevant experiences for customers and measurable value for advertisers - without compromising the trust, value and simplicity at the heart of our brands.
As Senior Product Manager - Retail Media, you will shape and own the retail media product strategy and roadmap from early validation through to controlled scale. You will help create a coherent end-to-end proposition for shoppers, advertisers and agencies, and our internal retail media teams. Working across Retail Media, Product Design, Digital Product, Technology, Data, Analytics, Merchandise, Marketing, Finance, Legal and Privacy, you will turn complex customer, commercial and operational needs into a measurable and scalable product. This is an opportunity to help create a new business from the ground up - not simply manage an established feature backlog.
What you’ll be doing
- Shape and own the product vision, strategy and outcome-led roadmap for retail media across Kmart and Target.
- Bring together shopper, advertiser, operator, market and business signals to identify, frame and size the highest-value opportunities.
- Partner with Product Design to shape the end-to-end shopper, advertiser and operator experiences, including the policies and guardrails that protect relevance, transparency and customer trust.
- Translate research, data and stakeholder input into clear product problems, requirements and priorities that Design and Engineering can act on.
- Frame the most important hypotheses, lead experiments and establish clear measures and decision rules to scale, iterate or stop.
- Partner with Technology, Data and Analytics to shape platform capabilities, integrations, measurement, identity and consent requirements, and reliable product delivery.
- Contribute to build, buy and partner decisions while ensuring Kmart Group retains control of the customer experience, product policy and critical data and measurement requirements.
- Lead cross-functional alignment and resolve trade-offs between customer value, advertiser outcomes, commercial contribution, operational effort, technical feasibility and risk.
To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- Proven experience leading complex digital or platform products end to end, including a zero-to-one product or significant scale-up.
- Strong product judgement, with a record of turning ambiguous opportunities into clear problems, strategies, priorities and measurable outcomes.
- Experience with multi-sided products or ecosystems involving competing customer, commercial and operational needs.
- Strong problem-framing and product-shaping capability, translating insight and complex stakeholder input into clear direction for Design and Engineering.
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience working with measures such as revenue, contribution, pricing, margin, operating cost or unit economics.
- Advanced experimentation and analytical capability, including defining hypotheses, choosing appropriate methods and interpreting inconclusive or conflicting evidence honestly.
- The ability to define meaningful product measures and distinguish delivery, attributed outcomes and incremental value.
- Sufficient technical fluency to work effectively across advertising and marketing technology, APIs, data flows, decisioning, integrations, identity, consent, measurement and platform trade-offs.
- Clear and compelling communication skills, with the ability to make complex product choices understandable, build alignment and influence senior stakeholders.
- A low-ego, high-standards mindset where you seek candid feedback, listen deeply, build on others’ ideas, challenge constructively, change your view when the evidence changes and hold yourself and the work to a high bar.
Experience in retail media or commerce media, advertising or marketing technology, ecommerce search and personalisation, marketplace monetisation, digital measurement, customer data and identity, or omnichannel retail would be valuable but is not essential.
Benefits we’ll offer you:
- Flexible hybrid working options through our Flex Where, Flex When, Flex Well policy.
- A team member discount card that gives you a discount at Kmart, Target, Officeworks and Bunnings
- Access to the Brighter Benefits program which entitles you to exclusive discounts and benefits in the areas of entertainment, travel, lifestyle, and health – with over 60 suppliers!
