Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Sr. Product Manager, Account Opening will drive strategic enhancements to the account opening platform, focusing on policy compliance, operational efficiency, and seamless client/advisor experience. This role will lead cross-functional initiatives to deliver scalable account opening solutions while ensuring regulatory adherence and business alignment across all RBC business units..

What will you do?

Product Strategy & Vision

  • Define, socialize, and evolve the future-state product roadmap based on market needs, stakeholder input, technical feasibility, and business priorities
  • Analyze and prioritize business requirements related to account opening process from key partners
  • Identify opportunities to improve the client and advisor experience to support firm's strategic initiatives (Advisor Recruiting, UHNW, Cash Services)
  • Act as primary liaison between Business Services, Legal, and Compliance teams on account opening strategy
  • Ensure all account opening enhancements meet compliance standards and resolve escalated client or regulatory inquiries

Process Optimization & Platform Reliability

  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, risk, technology, and operations teams to identify inefficiencies, streamline workflows, and enhance the account opening process
  • Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive account opening policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across all channels
  • Partner with technology and training teams to refine user experience and ensure communication and training

Forms and Agreements Strategy

  • Develop and execute strategy to simplify forms and agreements, reducing complexity and client friction throughout the account opening process
  • Lead strategy to simplify disclosure delivery practices to ensure regulatory requirements are met while improving client experience
  • Improve ease and accessibility for clients to read, understand, and sign forms through design optimization and user experience improvements

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with design, research, technology, legal, risk, and compliance teams to make informed platform decisions
  • Lead cross-functional agile initiatives involving product, engineering, UX, operations, risk, and compliance teams
  • Review and approve exceptions associated with the account opening process aligned with Legal, Compliance, and Risk Management

Backlog & Roadmap Stewardship

  • Actively review and curate backlog items, prioritize against roadmap, and retire outdated items
  • Maintain product backlog health aligned with strategic objectives and business targets
  • Balance innovation initiatives with operational excellence and technical debt management

What do you need to succeed?

  • Wealth Management Expertise: A Bachelor's degree in Business or related field and/or 5+ years of knowledge in account opening processes, wealth management products, and regulatory requirements
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Proven ability to lead regulatory initiatives and coordinate between Business, Legal, and Compliance departments.
  • Strategic & Operational Skills: Experience in process improvement, compliance management, and operational implementation.
  • Problem-Solving & Execution: Ability to analyze complex issues, develop compliant solutions, and drive implementation in regulated environments.
  • Stakeholder Management: Expertise in facilitation and strategic influencing across organizational levels.
  • Multitasking & Detail Orientation: Skilled at managing competing priorities with precision and regulatory accuracy.

The expected salary range for this particular position is $90,000-$160,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.

You have the potential to earn more through RBC’s discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
