Full description

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Product Manager.

Role Profile

The Product Manager is accountable for end-to-end product management and delivery across the Fund Services Product Suite, including product proposition development, strategic change execution, operating model design, business requirements, governance, risk management and implementation oversight. The role will work closely with each of the Fund Services Product verticals (FA, TA, MO & Trustee), Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Client Coverage and Programme Management to deliver scalable, client-centric and commercially relevant product capabilities across Fund Services. This includes responsibility for strategic transformation initiatives spanning core Fund Services products, digital enablement, service model evolution, regulatory change, market infrastructure developments and emerging product opportunities, including but not limited to Digital Assets.

In this role you will:

Market advocacy (external representation and ecosystem influence)

  • Maintain strong awareness of industry, client, regulatory and competitive developments relevant to the Fund Services Product Suite, ensuring these are translated into actionable product implications and priorities.
  • Engage with regulators, industry bodies, market infrastructures, vendors, strategic providers and clients to support HSBC’s market credibility and to inform product strategy and transformation priorities across Fund Services.
  • Represent HSBC appropriately with senior external stakeholders including asset managers, service providers and market participants, ensuring insight is converted into practical product and operating model improvements.
  • Identify emerging trends, partnership opportunities and ecosystem risks early, including those relating to market infrastructure, service models, technology enablement, digital assets, data requirements and regulatory change, and translate these into recommendations for Securities Services leadership.

Product strategy (vision, roadmap, partnerships, governance)

  • Define and drive (or, where strategy is owned elsewhere, partner with existing Product teams to incorporate) digital assets strategy, priorities and roadmap for tokenised securities/funds and digital asset custody, aligned to SSV/CIB objectives, target clients and market priorities. This includes embedding digital assets capabilities into relevant Securities Services product strategies, ensuring dependencies, operating model impacts and delivery sequencing are understood and reflected in roadmaps.
  • Lead product discovery and early-stage definition activities including business case inputs (scope, objectives, dependencies, costs, assumptions, acceptance criteria, issues and risks), with a particular focus on ambiguous / R&D type initiatives (pilots, proofs-of-concept) where solutions are evolving
  • Define partnership strategy and support provider selection and governance for priority vendors/partners, including evaluation criteria, oversight cadence, deliverables management and commercial input (in partnership with appropriate internal functions)
  • Implement product governance and reporting cadence (roadmap status, delivery progress, key decisions, risks/issues and dependencies), escalating blockers to improve decision velocity where required

Product delivery, implementation and commercialisation

  • Support delivery of strategic product and transformation initiatives across the Fund Services Product Suite in accordance with HSBC governance, change management and delivery frameworks.
  • Closely collaborate with the Global Product Delivery team to ensure delivery of product roadmap against strategic priorities.
  • Ensure effective integration across Product, Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Client Coverage and third parties to support business readiness, operational scalability and controlled implementation.
  • Define target operating model impacts and change requirements across process, controls, roles and responsibilities, training and BAU handover to ensure new capabilities can be supported effectively at scale.
  • Define and drive go-to-market and implementation planning with stakeholders, including client prioritisation, onboarding approach, readiness criteria, service rollout and adoption measurement.
  • Support benefits identification, modelling and tracking, including commercial opportunity, client adoption, service quality, scalability, control enhancement, efficiency and time-to-market improvements.
  • Ensure appropriate understanding of the regulatory and compliance environment affecting Fund Services products, with early engagement for new structures, propositions and operating models.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Solid relevant experience in product management, change delivery, onboarding/migrations or platform build in securities / fund administration / fund middle office / custody environments
  • University graduate preferably in business administration, information technology or a similar discipline
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of the securities market and the associated market infrastructure for Fund Administration, Fund Middle Office and Custody business, with awareness of emerging market structures supporting tokenised assets and digital asset custody
  • General awareness of business, regulatory and technology change within investment management is essential, including digital assets and currencies developments relevant to Securities Services
  • Good technical aptitude, including excellent knowledge in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint/Excel); familiarity with structured requirements management and delivery tooling is beneficial.
