About the job:
At Google, we put our users first. The world is always changing, so we need Product Managers who are continuously adapting and excited to work on products that affect millions of people every day.
In this role, you will work cross-functionally to guide products from conception to launch by connecting the technical and business worlds. You can break down complex problems into steps that drive product development.
One of the many reasons Google consistently brings innovative, world-changing products to market is because of the collaborative work we do in Product Management. Our team works closely with creative engineers, designers, marketers, etc. to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users.
User-Generated Content (UGC) such as Reviews and Suggested Map Edits represent a key differentiator for Google Maps and Search. UGC is critical for helping people decide where to go and plays a huge role in keeping the Map fresh.
The Real World Experience (RWE) team's mission within UGC is to help users everywhere share their authentic real world experiences and make well-informed decisions. Contributors share Reviews, Ratings, Photos/Videos, and Answers every day, helping users across Search and Maps decide where to go and in turn supporting and improving businesses globally. The RWE Creative Editorial team's mission is to empower users to easily contribute helpful, authentic media (e.g., photos and videos) on Google Maps that enables others to make informed decisions on where to go.
The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.
The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.
Responsibilities:
- Own the long-term goal and product strategy for Creative Editorial (e.g., Media), translating it into a concrete, prioritized road map focused on driving UGC media growth.
- Build out authentic, high-quality user-generated content (UGC) experiences, adapting to an evolving Artificial Intelligence (AI) landscape.
- Partner with UX, research, and engineering teams to design, launch, and successfully land new features for both UGC media contribution and consumption.
- Promote alignment and collaborate deeply with cross-functional partner teams, including data, engineering, UX, research, and policy/legal.
- Build consensus across the organization and successfully secure support from key stakeholders to drive roadmap initiatives forward.
