Position Summary
The L2 Operations Support Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, availability, and performance of cloud-native production applications. This role partners with Development, Infrastructure, and DevOps teams to support production operations, application deployments, platform services, and operational automation while driving continuous improvement.
Production Operations & Incident Response
- Provide Level 2 support for production applications and platforms.
- Monitor system health, troubleshoot incidents, restore service, and perform root cause analysis.
- Participate in on-call support and production change activities.
Platform Support (Kubernetes & Kafka)
- Support Kubernetes environments, including deployments, scaling, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Monitor and support Kafka clusters, topics, brokers, and consumer groups to ensure reliable messaging.
Application Deployment & Release Management
- Support CI/CD pipelines and production deployments.
- Execute release validation, environment promotion, and rollback activities.
DevOps Toolchain & Automation
- Support DevOps tools including Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or ArgoCD.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
- Automate operational tasks using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
Operational Excellence
- Create and maintain runbooks, knowledge articles, and operational procedures.
- Partner with Development, Infrastructure, and SRE teams to improve reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
- Support monitoring and observability using tools such as Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or Dynatrace.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years supporting enterprise production environments.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and a public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience supporting Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong Linux administration, scripting, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cloud, Kubernetes (CKA), Terraform, or ITIL certifications.
- Experience working in Agile, DevOps, or DevSecOps environments.
Success Measures
- Maintain high production availability and SLA compliance.
- Reduce incident resolution times through effective troubleshooting and automation.
- Deliver reliable deployments with minimal production impact.
- Continuously improve operational processes, documentation, and platform stability.
