Job Summary
The Finance Data Analyst collects, integrates, analyzes, and presents financial and operational data to support informed business decisions. This role designs and maintains ETL data flows, develops business intelligence dashboards and reports, creates user-friendly SharePoint forms, and translates complex data into clear visualizations and actionable insights. The Finance Data Analyst safeguards data quality and integrity, improves reporting processes through automation, and partners with teams across the organization to deliver practical, scalable data solutions in a fast-paced, growing environment.
Responsibilities
Data Collection & Management
• Collect, compile, and integrate financial and operational data from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Design, build, document, and maintain efficient ETL data flows that support reporting, analytics, and business intelligence needs.
• Maintain and update organizational dashboards, datasets, data connections, and supporting documentation.
• Create user-friendly SharePoint forms and related data-capture solutions that improve accessibility and standardization.
Data Analysis & Reporting
• Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, relationships, and anomalies that may affect business performance or decision-making.
• Develop and maintain recurring reports, business intelligence dashboards, charts, and other visualizations for business stakeholders.
• Create accurate and timely ad hoc analyses and reports for special projects, leadership inquiries, and emerging business needs.
• Translate complex data into clear findings, business implications, and actionable recommendations.
Data Quality & Integrity
• Perform data validation, reconciliation, cleansing, and testing to ensure the reliability of reports and analytical outputs.
• Monitor data quality metrics, investigate root causes of discrepancies, and implement sustainable improvements and controls.
• Document data definitions, assumptions, calculations, and reporting logic to promote consistency and transparency.
Collaboration & Communication
• Partner with Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to understand requirements and provide analytical support.
• Gather and translate business requirements into effective data models, reports, dashboards, forms, and automated workflows.
• Present findings and insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders in a clear, concise, and audience-appropriate manner.
Process Improvement
• Identify opportunities to streamline data collection, transformation, reconciliation, and reporting processes.
• Develop and implement automation using appropriate tools, including Microsoft Power Automate, SharePoint, scripts, and database solutions, to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
• Support the continuous improvement and scalability of finance data and reporting solutions as the organization grows organically and through mergers and acquisitions.
Compliance & Security
• Ensure data-handling practices comply with company policies, internal controls, contractual requirements, and applicable regulations.
• Protect the confidentiality, integrity, and security of sensitive financial, employee, client, and business data.
Qualifications and Experience
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible experience in data reporting, business intelligence, analytics, or a related discipline.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, macros, complex formulas, data analysis, and financial modeling.
• Working knowledge of data warehousing, ETL concepts, relational databases, data models, and reporting architectures.
• Experience developing dashboards, reports, charts, and visualizations using Tableau or comparable business intelligence tools.
• Proficiency with Deltek Vantagepoint, JavaScript, Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and develop practical solutions.
• Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to data accuracy, integrity, documentation, and confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously, and adapt to changing business needs.
• Ability to communicate complex data findings clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred
• Experience analyzing financial, project, and operational data, including revenue, profitability, utilization, forecasting, or other performance measures.
• Experience using Deltek Vantagepoint for financial reporting, project-based analytics, data extraction, or dashboard development.
• Experience supporting an architecture, engineering, construction, professional services, or other project-based organization.
• Experience working in a fast-growing, multi-business-unit environment shaped by organic growth and mergers and acquisitions.
• Experience designing SharePoint forms and automated workflows that improve data collection, approvals, and reporting processes.
Work Environment

• Position may be fully remote or office-based where an office is available.
• Fast-paced financial environment supporting complex business-unit growth through both organic expansion and mergers and acquisitions.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required for team meetings, training, system implementations, business stakeholder engagement, or integration activities.
Compensation & Benefits
The expected base salary range for this role will be $50,000-$60,0000 based on the position’s location and applicable market requirements. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors, including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
