Job Description

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Power BI Developer with 3–8 years of experience in Business Intelligence, reporting, analytics and Power BI development.

 

The candidate will be responsible for designing and developing scalable Power BI dashboards, reports, semantic models and KPIs, while also supporting Power BI administration and day-to-day operations. The role requires strong experience in Power BI, DAX, Power Query, data modelling and SQL, along with the ability to integrate data from Azure, Databricks, SAP/enterprise data sources and other business applications.

The candidate should be comfortable working with Data Engineering teams, Business Analysts and business stakeholders in a global delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities: Power BI Development

 

  • Design, develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, reports and scorecards.
  • Translate business requirements into intuitive, scalable and performant reporting solutions.
  • Build optimized semantic/data models using Star and Snowflake schemas.
  • Develop complex DAX measures, calculated columns and business KPIs.
  • Perform data transformation and data preparation using Power Query (M).
  • Integrate Power BI with data sources such as SQL Server, Azure SQL, Excel, SharePoint and Databricks, as well as other enterprise/cloud applications.
  • Optimize Power BI reports, DAX queries and data models for improved performance and usability.

Power BI Administration & Operations

 

  • Manage Power BI Service, including workspaces, semantic models/datasets, dataflows and deployment pipelines.
  • Configure and support data gateways, refresh schedules, user access and security groups.
  • Implement and maintain Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS).
  • Monitor Power BI capacity, report performance, refresh failures and platform health.
  • Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root cause analysis (RCA) and support issue resolution.
  • Maintain technical documentation, SOPs and knowledge-base articles.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, Analytics and business teams to ensure reliable end-to-end BI solutions.
  • Follow organizational security, governance and development standards and ensure alignment with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.

 

Technical Skills & Certifications: Essential Skills

 

  • 5–8 years of experience in BI, Analytics or Data & Reporting solutions.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
  • Advanced proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M).
  • Strong experience in data modelling, Star Schema and Snowflake Schema.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational and analytical data sources.
  • Experience integrating Power BI with SQL Server, Azure SQL, Databricks, Excel and SharePoint.
  • Experience managing workspaces, gateways, semantic models/datasets, dataflows and deployment pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of RLS, OLS and Power BI security/access management.
  • Experience with performance optimization, capacity monitoring and refresh troubleshooting.
  • Experience with production support, incident management and root cause analysis.
  • Good understanding of Git, CI/CD and DevOps practices for BI solutions.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and experience working with technical teams and business stakeholders.

Certifications

 

  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) preferred.
  • Relevant Microsoft Fabric / Azure Data certification would be an added advantage.
  • Hands-on enterprise Power BI development and operational experience is essential.
