Overview

SSOE is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst who can connect financial performance with what is happening across our business and turn that information into better decisions.

In this role, you will serve as a trusted finance partner to business and operational leaders, providing the analysis, forecasting, and financial guidance needed to understand performance, evaluate opportunities, manage risk, and plan for growth. You will work closely with leaders across our architecture, engineering, and project delivery teams to understand the financial impact of staffing, utilization, backlog, project performance, pricing, and other business decisions.

This is not a back-office reporting role. We are looking for someone who is curious about the business behind the numbers. We are looking for someone who can dig into financial and operational data, identify what is driving the results, challenge assumptions when appropriate, and translate complex analysis into clear recommendations.

You will work with financial and operational information across SSOE's business, using tools such as Excel, Power BI, AI tools such as CoPilot and our enterprise financial systems to build forecasts, evaluate scenarios, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and help leaders make informed decisions.

The right person will bring strong FP&A fundamentals, exceptional analytical skills, and communication skills to be credible with both finance professionals and operational leaders.

Why SSOE?

At SSOE, finance is connected to the business. As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will have the opportunity to work directly with the people making those decisions.

Our teams design and deliver complex projects across advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, automotive, battery, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and other technically demanding markets. The financial decisions behind that work matter, from how we staff a project and forecast demand to how we price work, manage backlog, and invest in growth.

For someone who wants to grow beyond traditional financial reporting into FP&A leadership, strategic finance, or operations finance, this role offers the opportunity to understand both the financial and operational sides of a complex architecture and engineering business.

AI and Innovation

At SSOE, we don’t just talk about the future, we build it. As a leader in industry AI adoption, we empower our team to work smarter by providing responsible access to the industry leading AI Large Language Models, vibe-coding platforms, and securely integrating advanced tools into every role. From day one, you’ll receive the training and support needed to leverage AI as a core tool for enhancing productivity, sparking creativity, and streamlining complex workflows.

Responsibilities

A Typical Day Might Include:

  • Serve as a trusted finance partner to business and operational leaders, providing financial insight, analysis, and recommendations that support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Own financial forecasting and analysis for assigned business units, offices, disciplines, market sectors, or other areas of the organization.
  • Develop and maintain financial models that connect key business drivers such as headcount, labor utilization, billing rates, backlog, project performance, and staffing plans to revenue, profitability, and other financial outcomes.
  • Lead recurring forecasting activities and provide clear visibility into expected financial performance, emerging trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Perform detailed variance analysis across actual results, forecasts, budgets, and prior periods, identifying the underlying business drivers and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Partner with operational leaders to evaluate the financial impact of decisions involving hiring, workforce planning, utilization, pricing, project staffing, investments, and other business initiatives.
  • Analyze backlog, pipeline, staffing requirements, and expected project activity to support short- and long-term workforce and revenue planning.
  • Partner with Project Managers, Project Accountants, and business leaders to evaluate project financial performance, including revenue, cost, profitability, forecast-to-complete, and financial risk.
  • Support project and portfolio forecasting by evaluating contract value, project progress, change activity, remaining effort, and other factors that affect anticipated revenue and profitability.
  • Build scenario and sensitivity models that allow leaders to understand the potential financial impact of changing business conditions and operating assumptions.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and management reporting that provide clear visibility into key financial and operational performance indicators.
  • Prepare concise, executive-ready presentations that translate complex financial information into a clear story: what happened, why it happened, what is likely to happen next, and where leadership action may be needed.
  • Support annual budgeting and long-range planning, including revenue, labor, overhead, capital expenditures, staffing, and profitability assumptions.
  • Analyze business and project risks including client concentration, project margin deterioration, scope growth, collections, utilization, backlog, and forecast accuracy.
  • Partner with business development and operational teams to evaluate the economics of significant pursuits, growth opportunities, staffing strategies, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Support financial close, audit, tax, compliance, and management reporting activities by preparing accurate and well-supported financial schedules and analysis.
  • Improve financial processes and reporting through automation, standardization, and effective use of technologies such as Excel, Power Query, Power BI, and other financial planning and reporting tools.
  • Develop financial models and processes that are transparent, repeatable, appropriately documented, and understandable by someone other than the original author.
  • Help strengthen financial knowledge across the organization by explaining financial concepts and business drivers to non-finance leaders in practical, understandable terms.
  • Mentor less-experienced analysts and contribute to continuous improvement of financial modeling, forecasting, reporting, and analytical practices.

Qualifications

Qualifications You’ll Need on Day One:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), financial analysis, business finance, project finance, or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience with forecasting, budgeting, financial modeling, variance analysis, and business performance analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with demonstrated experience building financial models, analyzing large datasets, performing scenario and sensitivity analysis, and developing repeatable analytical processes.
  • Experience working with an ERP, financial management, planning, or enterprise reporting system.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and the relationship among revenue, expenses, profitability, cash flow, and operational performance.
  • Ability to move beyond reporting financial results to identify underlying business drivers, evaluate alternatives, and make clear recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with non-finance leaders and communicate financial concepts in clear business terms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information and recommendations to business leaders and executives.
  • Salary Range: $95,000 - 105,000/year depending on location, education, depth of relevant experience, and any specialized licensure/certifications. Opportunity for ample rewards, leadership incentive components, and generous bonus opportunities. Benefits: Includes comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, 401K retirement savings plan (with company matching), opportunities for professional development and training (including support for relevant licensure & certifications), and generous PTO & paid holidays.
