As a Senior QA Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in defining and implementing quality strategies across the product lifecycle. You will work closely with engineering, product, and other cross-functional teams to design effective test approaches, build scalable automation frameworks, and ensure reliable product releases.

The role requires strong practical experience with Playwright, excellent programming capabilities, and experience testing APIs, developer-facing applications, or CLI-based products. You will also contribute to CI/CD automation, defect investigation, test coverage improvement, and continuous enhancement of QA practices.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead QA activities and contribute to the overall quality strategy for products and features.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test suites using Playwright.
  • Create comprehensive functional, regression, integration, API, and end-to-end test cases.
  • Test developer-facing products, APIs, CLI tools, and complex software workflows.
  • Develop reliable automation scripts using Java, JavaScript, Python, or TypeScript.
  • Build and maintain reusable automation frameworks and testing utilities.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and ensure reliable continuous testing.
  • Collaborate with developers and product teams to understand requirements and identify potential quality risks.
  • Perform detailed defect analysis, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigation.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to reproduce, track, and resolve software defects.
  • Identify gaps in test coverage and continuously improve automation effectiveness.
  • Validate application functionality, usability, reliability, and overall user experience.
  • Participate in release planning, regression testing, and quality assessments.
  • Maintain test documentation, automation standards, and quality metrics.
  • Work effectively in an asynchronous environment and communicate progress, risks, and issues clearly.
  • Contribute to improvements in QA processes, tools, frameworks, and engineering best practices.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • 5+ years of experience in QA, software testing, or quality engineering, including experience leading QA initiatives.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and modern test automation practices.
  • Proven experience testing APIs, CLI tools, developer-facing products, or large-scale applications.
  • Strong programming skills in Java, JavaScript, Python, or TypeScript.
  • Extensive experience writing, maintaining, and optimising automated test cases.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and continuous testing practices.
  • Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, test strategy, regression testing, and defect management.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong focus on delivering clean, reliable user experiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to take ownership of QA initiatives and work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering and product teams.
  • Comfortable working in a startup or fast-paced product environment.
  • Experience with Node.js, Electron applications, and Git-based development workflows is an advantage.
  • Exposure to open-source projects or contributions is a plus.
  • Experience testing API clients or other developer-oriented applications will be an added advantage.
