Job Description
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for processing and analyzing of financial data, driving financial performance and ensure financial compliance with government funding regulations.
The successful candidate will bring critical thinking, a strong attention to detail and a desire to “dig in” to learn the business while being mindful of the strong culture and commitment of the Company to provide the best care possible for our patients and residents across Canada.
This position will be based at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the annual budgeting process, including preparation, monthly forecasting, and budget-to-actual variance analysis with clear explanations in collaboration with operations
- Prepare and deliver management reporting packages, including standard and recurring reports, KPIs, and insightful commentary for strategic analysis
- Partner with Finance Business Partners and operational teams to generate insights, interpret financial results, and support data-driven decision-making (e.g., staffing, capex, operational initiatives)
- Gather and ensure timely submission of required regulatory and government reporting for assigned facilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business unit leaders, including facility administrators, nursing leadership, and operations teams
- Ensure compliance with Extendicare’s accounting systems and procedures, and support resolution of field-related financial issues
- Drive process improvements and efficiencies leveraging financial and business expertise
- Coach and support Financial Analysts, and contribute to special projects as required
- Present financial insights to senior leadership in a clear and concise manner
- Complete other duties as assigned
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting
- 3-5 years experience in operations finance and/or accounting related role
- CPA certification
- Strong communication skills with the ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast pace environment
- Excellent organizational, computer and analytical skills; advanced working knowledge of Excel
- Accounting experience with large-scale Enterprise Reporting systems, knowledge of Workday preferred
