The role combines strategic architecture with hands-on technical expertise and partners with business leaders, vendors, implementation partners, and project teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and supportable technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture and Business Partnership

  • Design scalable technology solutions supporting end-to-end supply chain and operational processes.
  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical architecture addressing process, application, data, integration, security, reporting, and support needs.
  • Partner with operational and functional leaders to identify process and technology gaps, evaluate solution options, and recommend appropriate technical approaches.
  • Develop solution roadmaps aligned with business priorities, operational requirements, and enterprise technology strategy.
  • Lead requirements gathering, process analysis, solution-design workshops, technical assessments, and architecture reviews.
  • Communicate technical options, risks, dependencies, costs, and operational trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

SAP and Systems Integration

  • Serve as a senior technical authority for SAP S/4HANA architecture, configuration, integration, and optimization.
  • Provide hands-on configuration, analysis, and troubleshooting across SAP modules, including MM, PP, QM, and related supply chain applications.
  • Design and maintain integrations between SAP and warehouse management, transportation, planning, manufacturing, quality, procurement, customer, supplier, carrier, third-party logistics, and reporting systems.
  • Develop integrations using APIs, OData, SOAP services, IDocs, RFCs, event-driven architecture, middleware platforms, electronic data interchange, and cloud integration technologies.
  • Establish SAP configuration standards, integration patterns, data standards, monitoring practices, and technical controls.
  • Ensure data integrity, traceability, security, availability, and reliability across integrated applications and platforms.

Transportation and Logistics Technology Enablement

  • Partner with Logistics and Supply Chain leaders to translate transportation, freight, carrier, third-party logistics, capacity, service, and inventory requirements into technology solutions.
  • Design solution architecture supporting transportation management, shipment planning, carrier connectivity, freight visibility, shipment tracking, reporting, and related logistics capabilities.
  • Enable reliable data exchange among SAP, transportation and warehouse systems, carriers, third-party logistics providers, freight partners, and reporting platforms.
  • Develop system, data, reporting, and analytical capabilities that support leadership evaluation of transportation cost, capacity, service, provider performance, freight and inventory trade-offs, and network risks.
  • Translate future-state transportation and logistics requirements into system architecture, data models, integrations, workflows, controls, and technical operating requirements.

Technical Delivery and Vendor Partnership

  • Guide the design and development of custom applications, integrations, reports, interfaces, workflows, analytics, and automation solutions.
  • Develop technical specifications and establish development, testing, documentation, release, and support standards.
  • Provide technical oversight throughout solution design, development, testing, implementation, stabilization, and post-implementation support.
  • Review vendor and implementation-partner designs, validate proposed solutions, challenge assumptions, and identify technical gaps or risks.
  • Coordinate technical activities across multiple initiatives while managing dependencies, design decisions, integration impacts, and technical risks.
  • Provide technical input into vendor evaluations, scopes of work, implementation plans, service requirements, and technology-related contract provisions.

Governance and Continuous Improvement

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex system, application, data, and integration issues affecting business operations.
  • Establish and maintain architecture, master data, development, security, and integration governance standards.
  • Monitor system reliability, integration performance, data quality, incident trends, and solution effectiveness.
  • Analyze technical and operational performance trends and recommend improvements addressing risks, inefficiencies, system limitations, and business needs.
  • Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, support procedures, training materials, and knowledge resources.
