Overview Of The Role KX is currently seeking a Senior Pre-Sales Engineer to join our technical sales team. As a Senior Pre-Sales Engineer, you’ll spend your time working directly with customers and prospects – understanding prospect environments and use cases, providing technical skills to help them understand KX and OneTick software, identifying where KX can expand new sales opportunities, assist at events, and much more.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • 3+ years’ proven experience in a kdb+ role within capital markets.
  • Proficient with q, python and SQL
  • General data modeling knowledge and understanding of financial market data, data structures and asset classes (e.g., equities and derivatives, ETFs, futures, options, fixed income, FX, crypto)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to describe complex topics to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple customers and deliverables simultaneously.

Essential Experience

  • 3+ years’ proven experience in a kdb+ role within capital markets.
  • Proficient with q, python and SQL
  • General data modeling knowledge and understanding of financial market data, data structures and asset classes (e.g., equities and derivatives, ETFs, futures, options, fixed income, FX, crypto)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Good understanding and preferably experience working with quantitative finance
  • Good understanding and preferably experience working in a technical sales / sales engineering role
  • Previous experience with vector databases, LLMs, and Generative AI workflows. Using AI within your daily workflows to improve efficiency
  • Previous experience with cloud and on-prem/cloud hybrid architectures.
  • Having a track record of demonstrating self-starting and introducing new initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for sales reps, customers and prospects developing strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Perform regular demonstrations that address pain points, identify areas where we add value, and assess opportunities.
  • Provide product training to prospects to ensure they have sufficient expertise to utilize our software.
  • Provide ongoing technical guidance to prospects and raise any issues internally to leadership, product and R&D.
  • Identify opportunities for new use cases and present both internally and externally.
  • Identify potential risk areas and vulnerabilities and work with internal stakeholders to mitigate.
  • Work with the Account Executives to identify areas for growth in new accounts.
  • Define solution architecture for new use cases and expansion opportunities.
  • Provide demos, workshops, and proof of concepts to advance opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, issues, use cases, performance metrics, etc.
