This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Analyst based in the United States.

The Business Analyst will play a key role in supporting cross-functional teams delivering complex federal IT modernization initiatives. You will act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating mission needs into clear, actionable requirements. The role combines business analysis, process improvement, stakeholder engagement, and Agile delivery within structured and regulated environments. You will help teams understand priorities, define successful outcomes, and ensure solutions remain aligned with user needs and organizational objectives. From requirements workshops and backlog refinement to UAT and solution validation, your work will influence the full software development lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with Product Owners, developers, QA specialists, UX teams, and stakeholders to drive effective delivery. Accountabilities:

  • Engage with business stakeholders to gather, clarify, document, and validate business and functional requirements.
  • Translate business needs into clear user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, and actionable requirements for delivery teams.
  • Facilitate requirements-gathering workshops, stakeholder meetings, backlog refinement sessions, and other collaborative discussions.
  • Analyze existing business processes, workflows, and operating models to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with Product Owners and stakeholders to evaluate, prioritize, and refine requirements based on business value and mission needs.
  • Maintain requirements traceability throughout the software development lifecycle and ensure changes are appropriately documented.
  • Collaborate with development, QA, UX, and other technical teams to ensure requirements are accurately understood and implemented.
  • Support user acceptance testing and validate that delivered solutions meet defined business requirements and user expectations.
  • Develop and maintain business requirements documents, process flows, functional specifications, use cases, and other project documentation.
  • Identify gaps, dependencies, risks, and potential impacts associated with requirements and proposed solutions.
  • Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders to promote shared understanding and alignment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of analysis, requirements management, and Agile delivery practices across project teams.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of professional experience as a Business Analyst, Product Analyst, or in a comparable business analysis role.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering, analyzing, documenting, and validating business and functional requirements.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience writing user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, process documentation, and functional requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking capabilities, with the ability to break complex business needs into practical solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at different technical and organizational levels.
  • Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills, including the ability to lead requirements workshops and collaborative working sessions.
  • Experience working in structured, highly governed, or regulated environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including Product, Development, Quality Assurance, UX, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting federal government contracts or public-sector technology initiatives is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or comparable requirements and project-management platforms is a plus.
  • Experience with process modeling and visualization tools such as Visio or Lucidchart is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of UX/UI principles or customer experience design is a plus.
  • Professional certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, or Agile-related certifications are desirable.
  • Ability to operate independently, manage competing priorities, and adapt to evolving project requirements.
