Data Metadata Management Analyst

Overview

We are seeking a Data Metadata Management Analyst to support enterprise data governance initiatives by leading metadata onboarding, stewardship, catalog adoption, and governance maturity efforts across business domains. This role will partner closely with business and technology stakeholders to improve data transparency, ownership, quality, and trust through effective metadata management practices.

Key Responsibilities

Metadata & Governance Leadership

  • Lead metadata onboarding and domain activation initiatives across business areas.
  • Establish metadata ownership, stewardship, and governance processes to support trusted data usage.
  • Define and maintain metadata standards, catalog governance policies, stewardship procedures, and adoption frameworks.
  • Support the development and implementation of business glossaries, data asset inventories, metadata requirements, and governance practices.
  • Identify gaps in governance processes, metadata quality, and catalog adoption, and recommend improvements.

Stakeholder Engagement & Facilitation

  • Facilitate workshops with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Product Owners, Subject Matter Experts, and technology teams.
  • Gather business requirements and define metadata, governance, and cataloging needs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and data governance teams.
  • Build strong relationships across business and technical organizations to drive governance adoption and alignment.

Adoption, Change Management & Communication

  • Drive enterprise adoption of metadata management and data catalog capabilities.
  • Develop governance playbooks, operating procedures, communications, and training materials.
  • Lead change management efforts that improve governance participation and stewardship engagement.
  • Communicate governance objectives and business value to stakeholders at all levels.

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Support governance roadmaps and metadata strategy initiatives.
  • Align metadata and governance efforts with business objectives and risk reduction goals.
  • Provide oversight and reporting for cross-functional governance programs and initiatives.
  • Analyze complex business challenges and recommend practical solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience creating governance frameworks, operating models, procedures, and adoption strategies.
  • Knowledge of Data Mesh concepts and domain-oriented governance models.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Information Systems, Data Management, Business, or a related field.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, NJ.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
