Network Engineers play a critical role in deploying and optimizing optical network solutions that support customer connectivity and network performance. The role contributes to the successful implementation, testing, upgrade, and operational readiness of submarine and terrestrial DWDM networks. Success in this position enables reliable delivery of complex customer network projects across multiple stakeholders and technologies.

How you will make an impact:

• Lead turn-up, commissioning, testing, channel additions, channel optimization, and BERT activities across Ciena optical networking platforms.
• Validate project deliverables, identify dependencies and technical risks, and facilitate engineering-to-project handoff activities.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues arising during deployments, upgrades, and in-service network operations.
• Implement channel additions, node insertions, traffic migrations, and hardware and software upgrades across customer networks.
• Validate maintenance window execution against approved Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and confirm network stability.
• Provide technical leadership during customer deployments, escalations, reviews, and acceptance activities.
• Create and review acceptance test plans, MOPs, project documentation, and deployment recommendations.

The must haves:

• Education: Technical degree in a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Application of subsea network deployment practices, including subsea OLS design and performance-impacting parameters.
• Experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting complex DWDM optical networks in greenfield and upgrade environments.
• Experience with DWDM/CWDM channel additions, node insertions, traffic migrations, and hardware and software upgrades.
• Utilization of testing tools including OSA, SDH Analyzer, and Ethernet testers.
• Experience: 10+ years of telecommunications-related operational experience and/or implementing projects within telecommunications markets.
• Experience: Minimum 8 years in a technical lead role and/or participation in medium- to large-scale project deployments.

Nice to haves:

• Experience creating and executing complex MOPs for greenfield networks and in-service upgrades.
• Ability to understand and create network design and handover documentation.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• On-field deployment experience.
• Experience working within a matrix management environment.
• Application of technical concepts in fiber optic or high-speed data communications.
• Experience with Ciena products and technologies.
