This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Mission Solutions Engineer based in United States.
This is a high-impact software engineering role focused on building mission-critical capabilities for defense and national security environments.You will architect, integrate, and deliver resilient software across cloud, edge, and on-premises environments, including classified and disconnected settings.The role bridges operational mission needs with modern software architecture, cybersecurity, and DevSecOps practices.You will contribute to a growing mission software center of excellence, helping establish technical standards and repeatable engineering practices.The position also offers opportunities to apply AI and machine learning to accelerate development and improve operational decision-making.You will work closely with program leadership, systems engineering, cybersecurity, business development, and DevSecOps teams.This opportunity is well suited to an engineer who combines strong technical depth with mission focus, operational empathy, and comfort working in high-consequence environments.

Accountabilities:
- Architect and deliver end-to-end mission software solutions across cloud, edge, and on-premises environments, from initial concept through Authority to Operate (ATO).
- Translate operational and mission requirements into secure, scalable, resilient, and maintainable software architectures.
- Serve as a technical authority for solution design across microservices, event-driven systems, modular monoliths, and modular open systems approaches.
- Establish and promote modern engineering practices, including Agile development, DevSecOps, automated CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and AI-assisted software development.
- Apply artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to accelerate software delivery, improve decision support, and address complex operational challenges.
- Collaborate with program leadership, systems engineering, cybersecurity, and DevSecOps teams to deliver solutions aligned with DoD security and accreditation requirements.
- Partner with business development and technical leadership to shape new opportunities, develop technical approaches, and contribute to proposals, solicitations, and white papers.
- Help establish technical standards and repeatable engineering practices across mission software programs.
- Communicate complex technical architectures and design decisions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support software development using technologies including Python, Django, PostgreSQL, Redis, Keycloak, Open Policy Agent, Celery, React, Kubernetes, Docker, and related infrastructure and DevOps tools.
- Operate effectively in ambiguous, classified, contested, and disconnected environments where reliability and mission outcomes are critical.
- Travel approximately 10–25% or as required by customer and project requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and at least 3 years of experience using AI for software development.
- Demonstrated experience architecting large-scale software systems and developing full-stack software solutions.
- Experience with software architecture patterns including microservices, event-driven systems, and modular monoliths.
- Strong experience with Agile DevSecOps, automated CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, cloud architecture, and modern software engineering practices.
- Experience with AI-assisted DevSecOps or the application of AI/ML technologies to software development and mission applications.
- Familiarity with Modular Open Systems Approaches (MOSA) and, ideally, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Experience contributing to or developing U.S. Department of Defense proposals, white papers, technical approaches, or similar business development materials.
- Working knowledge of the relevant technology stack, including Python, Django, PostgreSQL, Redis, Keycloak/OIDC, OPA, Celery, React, Vite, Material-UI, Kubernetes, Docker, and Nginx.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain sophisticated architectures and technical concepts to varied audiences.
- Mission-focused mindset with strong operational empathy and the ability to make sound decisions in high-consequence environments.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity, evolving requirements, and complex technical challenges.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Active Secret clearance is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
