Full description

At Maverik, we don’t just offer jobs, we offer adventures.

As an Energy Systems Analyst, you’ll help keep our stores running smoothly by monitoring the systems that control critical equipment like HVAC, refrigeration, and lighting. You’ll proactively identify issues through our Energy Management Systems (EMS), troubleshoot alerts and store requests, and coordinate with vendors or technicians when additional support is needed. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, digging into system data, and catching issues before they impact store operations.

Why this role matters

This role helps Maverik stay ahead of equipment and energy-related issues by identifying and resolving problems before they become larger disruptions. Your work helps improve equipment performance, reduce unnecessary service calls, and keep our stores operating efficiently.

Location/Schedule

This role is based at our Salt Lake City Headquarters and follows a hybrid schedule with four days in-office and one remote day each week.

What You’ll do in this Role

  • Monitor real-time performance of EMS to identify equipment faults, schedule deviations, and abnormal energy patterns.
  • Track and optimize control strategies, setpoints, and schedules to ensure optimal equipment performance while maintaining energy efficiency, comfort, and operational requirements.
  • Perform root‑cause analysis on HVAC, lighting, refrigeration, and controls issues flagged through alarms, trends, or ServiceNow tickets. When applicable, work with vendors to troubleshoot issues.
  • Coordinate remote corrections or dispatch field technicians when site-level repairs are needed.
  • Collaborate with the Retail IT team to maintain system connectivity and improve system reliability.
  • Support rollout of EMS upgrades, new store integrations, and equipment replacement projects.
  • Provide expert analysis and guidance to facilities, operations, procurement, and construction teams.

Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.

You’ll be a great fit for this adventure if you have:

  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with EMS/BAS platforms
  • 1+ years of experience in utility analysis, energy management, or sustainability.
  • Microsoft Office experience and computer skills essential.
  • Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, and lighting systems.
  • Ability to interpret control schematics, trend logs, and equipment diagnostics.

Bonus points if you also bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Energy Management, Analytics, etc. or equivalent experience (HVAC/Refrigeration technician).

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range:$70,000-$80,000/year + DOE and Bonus Opportunities

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Maverik considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

  • In-Store and Fuel Discounts
  • Retirement plan with company match (401K)
  • Eligible for the annual incentive bonus program
