Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Project Manager Lead to support a major public-sector client and provide leadership across a portfolio of complex capital projects. In this role, you will oversee and guide consultant project teams, help ensure consistent project delivery and quality, and serve as a key point of coordination between AECOM, other consultant partners, and the client’s Facilities Services organization.

The Senior Project Manager Lead will oversee approximately five (5) to eight (8) consultant resources and will play an important role in driving accountability, consistency, and performance across the assigned portfolio. This position will work closely with client leadership while providing day-to-day direction and oversight to consultant personnel from multiple firms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct assigned consultant project teams across a portfolio of concurrent capital projects spanning acquisition, performance criteria, and design-build phases.
  • Enforce consistent project controls across all firms represented in the portfolio, including schedule format and update cycle, cost reporting, risk registers, change management, submittal logs, and document control.
  • Review and approve consultant deliverables prior to submission to the Judicial Council; reject and return work that does not meet established standards.
  • Monitor firm performance against the single-firm project team requirement and escalate any inability to supply later-phase resources.
  • Conduct periodic performance evaluations of assigned consultant personnel and recommend replacement where performance is deficient.
  • Onboard consultant resources mobilizing in later fiscal years and maintain project continuity and knowledge transfer as resources rotate on and off assignment.
  • Provide consolidated portfolio-level reporting to Facilities Services management and support Court Facilities Advisory Committee and Department of Finance reporting cycles.
  • Support preparation of Capital Outlay Budget Change Proposals, budget packages, and planning studies.
  • Direct the work of Associate Analysts and the Document Manager, as assigned.
  • Mentor and support the development of Judicial Council staff project managers, including any learning or developmental project manager assigned to the portfolio.
  • Coordinate with the other Lead to maintain statewide consistency of processes and reporting.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture or a related field and 10+ years or relevant construction, engineering, and/or project management experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • 20+ years of relevant experience
  • Five (5) years of experience supervising project management staff or multi-firm consultant teams.
  • Demonstrated experience directing multiple concurrent capital projects at the portfolio level, with an aggregate program value of $500 million or greater.
  • Demonstrated Design-Build delivery experience as an owner’s representative or lead project manager.
  • Large-scale public-sector capital program experience strongly preferred; California state or judicial branch experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with public capital budget processes, including Capital Outlay Budget Change Proposals and Department of Finance review, preferred.
