About this Position
The Graphic Designer will utilize skills in design to visually communicate services within the Division of Student Affairs to various audiences including current and prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and other external populations. The position provides primary, day-to-day creative support for Wellness programs—including Competitive Sports and Intramurals, Fitness, Employee Wellness, Outdoor Adventure and Student Wellness—while also contributing design expertise to priority initiatives across the Student Affairs organization.
Working collaboratively with Student Affairs communicators, program leaders and other creative professionals, the designer develops audience-focused visual solutions from concept through completion. Projects may include campaigns, posters, flyers, brochures, reports, presentations, environmental graphics, digital signage, social media assets, web graphics, email graphics and other print and digital materials. The position helps ensure that Student Affairs communications are coordinated, accessible, visually compelling and consistent with Oklahoma State University brand standards.
Must have a strong grasp of design, layout, typography and ability to contribute to creative processes from concept to execution.
Required Qualifications
- High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
• Graphic Designer l - Two years of work-related experience.
Graphic Designer II - Four years of work-related experience OR Bachelor's degree and one year of work-related experience.
Senior Graphic Designer - Bachelor's degree in appropriate field and four years of work-related experience.
Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat.
- Working knowledge of graphic design principles, typography, layout and production for print and digital channels.
- Ability to translate communications objectives and audience needs into effective visual concepts.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with communicators, program leaders, clients and creative colleagues in a shared-services environment.
- Commitment to brand consistency, accessibility, accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's
• Graphic design, visual communications or a related field
- Three or more years of professional graphic design experience
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
- Strong conceptual, visual storytelling, layout and typography skills.
- Experience developing integrated creative campaigns across print and digital channels.
- Experience designing for multiple clients, departments or programs within a shared-services or agency-style environment.
- Knowledge of digital design, social media content and accessible design practices.
- Proficiency in photography, photo editing or motion graphics.
- Experience mentoring or supervising student designers.
- Ability to interpret varied creative needs and develop strategic, responsive and audience-focused design solutions.
