Full description

At Avanza, our mission is to create a better future for millions of people through smarter saving and investing. Right now, we are accelerating our cloud journey to build the next generation of digital banking.

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to take on one of our most vital strategic missions: redefining how we handle our most valuable asset – our customer and account data.

The Opportunity

Everything Avanza does – every trade, every portfolio view, every login – relies on this data. Your challenge is to build a modern, secure, and cloud-based platform for all customer data, while smoothly decommissioning our legacy systems with zero downtime. You will operate right where advanced data architecture meets strict financial regulations, shaping the foundation that enables every other product team at Avanza to build smart features in the cloud.

What you will do

In this role you will take end-to-end ownership of our core customer data domain. Over the next 12–24 months, a major part of your mission will be leading the step-by-step transition from on-prem to the cloud together with your engineering partner, ensuring legacy databases are safely decommissioned.

To achieve this, you will focus on:

  • Owning the customer and account data lifecycle & quality: Drive the domain and product strategy for customer and account data—from modeling and ingestion to retention—and establish product SLOs for data accuracy, freshness, and stability.
  • Enabling developers & business operations: Ensure both internal engineering teams and operational departments (like Customer Service and FCI) can easily, safely, and efficiently access customer data—whether through modern APIs, event streams, or streamlined data workflows.
  • Enabling privacy & compliance: Partner closely with Legal, Security, and Risk to translate complex regulatory requirements (like GDPR and KYC) into platform capabilities built in from day one.
  • Aligning the organization: Create a shared roadmap that balances short-term operational needs with long-term platform architecture, navigating dependencies across different departments.

Who you are

You are an experienced product leader who thrives in complex technical landscapes. To truly thrive here, your personality is key. We are looking for someone who is highly proactive and self-driven, you take full ownership, don't wait for permission, and drive things forward.. You have a knack for making the complex simple, translating messy legacy dependencies into clear roadmaps. Finally, you are prestigeless and collaborative, valuing continuous learning and teamwork over pretending to have all the answers.

To succeed in this role, we believe you have:

  • Several years of experience as a Product Manager or Product Lead for platform or data products.
  • Proven experience in building data platforms and/or driving large-scale migrations (e.g., on-prem to cloud).
  • Deep understanding of data lifecycle management, APIs, and data structures.
  • Good understanding of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR).
  • A relevant degree within IT, Data, or Computer Science.

It is highly meritorious if you also have:

  • Experience from banking, fintech or the financial sector.
  • Knowledge of APIs, event-driven architecture and data mesh.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations like KYC/AML.
