Role Summary

Headquartered in Akron, Ohio, and working nationally, Welty has served the construction needs of clients throughout Ohio for 80 years. Specializing in construction management, general contracting, design-build, and integrated project delivery.

The Assistant Project Manager will play a pivotal role in the successful planning, design, and execution of commercial construction projects across the United States with a high focus in NE Ohio. This position requires managing technical aspects of projects from initial concept through completion, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and client specifications. The Assistant Project Manager of construction helps plan, organize, and manage building projects from start to finish.

While this role is stationed out of our Fairlawn, OH HQ building, candidates are required to be out on assigned job sites in the NE Ohio region as needed, in addition to the potential out of state travel requirement of (10-20%).

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating and maintaining Project Schedule
  • Create Request for Quotations, collect and qualify quotations
  • Assist Project Manager/Superintendent in creating RFI’s, FWDs, and Bulletins
  • Assist Project Manager/Superintendent with Scope of Work changes
  • Request Bid Evaluations
  • Utilize the project management software
  • Create and distribute Project Meeting Minutes.
  • Maintains subcontractor list as assigned for bidding utilizing the Company’s selected computer program(s).
  • Transmits invitation to bid letters using current methodologies as directed.
  • Assist Estimator / Project Manager in tracking bidders.
  • Assembles Scope of Work Book on a project by project basis. Sends Bid Documents out for printing and distributes to Subcontractors.
  • Contacts unsuccessful bidders to secure return of Bid Documents books.
  • Transmits submittals to Architects and transmits submittals back to subcontractors after they have been approved by the Architect.
  • Tracks and Files Certified Payroll reports by project as required.
  • Scans and files project progress photos
  • Drafts and or otherwise prepares memoranda and bulletins on project changes and transmits to appropriate subcontractor.
  • Assists in creating presentation materials.
  • Assists in the compilation of the Monthly Progress Reports as directed.
  • Assist in taking Meeting Minutes as directed
  • Performs any other task or duty as may be directed by Project Managers or the Office Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 2-5 years of PE/Construction experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective organizational skills
