Position: Technical Sales Engineer - Construction Chemicals

Location: Lagos (Full-time)

Remuneration: N350,000

The company works with contractors, developers, consultants, distributors, and other stakeholders within the construction value chain, delivering products and solutions that address diverse project requirements.

About You

We are seeking a commercially driven Civil Engineer to join our client’s team as a Technical Sales Engineer. You will serve as a key technical and commercial contact for customers, responsible for identifying business opportunities, developing client relationships, promoting construction chemical products, and providing appropriate technical solutions.

This role is ideal for an engineer who understands construction processes and materials but is equally comfortable with selling, networking, negotiating, conducting client presentations, and converting opportunities into revenue.

Job description

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the construction industry.
  • Promote and sell the company’s construction chemical products and solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, developers, consultants, distributors, and other key clients.
  • Conduct client meetings and site visits to understand project requirements and identify sales opportunities.
  • Prepare quotations and proposals, and follow up to convert opportunities into sales.
  • Conduct product presentations, demonstrations, and technical discussions with clients.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and consistently follow up on prospects and existing accounts.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and new project opportunities.
  • Work closely with technical and operations teams to ensure effective customer service and order fulfilment.
  • Achieve agreed sales targets and maintain accurate sales activity reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in construction chemicals, construction materials, building products, or a related industry.
  • Proven experience in technical sales, B2B sales, business development, or client-facing engineering roles.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and project environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify prospects, develop business opportunities, and convert leads into sales.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a target-driven and results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to understand technical requirements and recommend appropriate product solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant sales/CRM tools.
  • Strong follow-up, networking, and client management skills.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings, project visits, and site engagements.
