Playing a critical role within an established chemical manufacturing company, this position covers quality assurance, safety, health, environmental management, and internal technical training operations. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for driving organisational compliance, optimising quality standards, and maintaining robust health and safety frameworks across both plant and laboratory operations. This is a permanent opportunity working Monday to Thursday from 08:00 - 16:30 and Fridays from 08:00 - 15:30.
The position ensures complete alignment with ISO requirements, national safety legislation, and internal standard operating procedures. The successful candidate will combine strong analytical oversight with practical hands-on training execution to support continuous improvement and operational excellence across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, compile, and maintain all ISO documentation, forms, and quality instruction procedures to drive continuous process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Lead non-conformance (NC) resolution by managing, analysing, and closing out reports, identifying root causes, and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
- Conduct internal quality audits, deliver detailed feedback, coordinate external plant visits and audits, and provide progress reports to management.
- Compile comprehensive internal training materials and conduct practical laboratory training, theoretical testing, and competency evaluations for staff.
- Manage employee induction records and training registers to ensure full compliance with operational and human resources requirements.
- Implement and maintain systematic process controls for complete batch and document traceability.
- Monitor statutory health and safety regulations, updating management on monthly statutory amendments, safety files, and risk management proposals.
- Perform monthly health and safety walkthroughs of factory operations, fire equipment, and first aid stations.
- Formulate and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for plant machinery, laboratory instruments, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and Technical Data Sheets (TDS).
- Manage factory safety equipment allocation, issuing, inventory ordering, and maintain oversight of employee safety gear accountability.
- Oversee quality assurance laboratory functions, ensuring testing methods are accurate, repeatable, and aligned with standard application samples and raw material wet/dry specifications.
- Generate Certificate of Analysis (COA) templates, review raw material data sheets against safety policies, and manage internal and external equipment calibration schedules.
- Support administrative operations as required, including timely batch card generation and employee training schedules.
Requirements
Essential Requirements
- Certified Internal Auditor qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related QA, SHEQ, or compliance role.
- Thorough, up-to-date knowledge of quality standards, SHEQ legislation, and statutory health and safety regulations.
- Physical capability to perform unassisted duties under plant and laboratory conditions, with good hand-eye coordination and normal visual perception (including depth perception and full colour distinction).
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, communicate across all organizational levels, and manage problem-solving processes independently.
Desirable Requirements
- Diploma in SHEQ.
- Background or foundational understanding in analytical chemistry.
