Summary:

At IDI, the Senior Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Company's financial reporting while providing meaningful financial analysis that supports operational and strategic decision-making. This position combines strong technical accounting responsibilities with opportunities to partner across the organization, improve financial processes, and contribute to key business initiatives. The ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, and proactive, with a passion for continuous improvement and a desire to grow within a dynamic Finance organization.

Schedule:

Full-time | Monday through Friday

Imperial offers a flexible work environment that supports collaboration while recognizing the importance of work-life balance. Core business hours are generally 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility in start and end times based on business needs and manager approval.

Following successful onboarding, employees in this role are generally eligible to work on a hybrid remote schedule, consistent with Company policy and business needs. Because this position involves close collaboration with Finance leadership and cross-functional partners, individuals seeking to maximize professional growth are encouraged to maintain a regular in-office presence.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Include:

Financial Reporting & Close

  • Prepare accurate and timely journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules as part of the monthly and annual financial close process
  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
  • Analyze financial results, identify key variances and trends, and communicate meaningful insights to Finance leadership

Business Partnership & Analysis

  • Partner with leaders across Operations, Category Management, Human Resources, Purchasing, and Information Technology to resolve financial and operational matters and improve business processes
  • Develop recurring and ad hoc financial analyses that support operational and strategic decision-making
  • Respond to management inquiries by providing thoughtful and timely financial analysis and recommendations

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase efficiency through process improvements, automation, and standardization
  • Participate in Finance and cross-functional initiatives that enhance reporting, systems, and business processes

Planning & Special Projects

  • Assist with the annual budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Support audits and other compliance activities as needed
  • Lead or actively participate in special projects and strategic initiatives assigned by Finance leadership

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in public accounting or corporate accounting, or a combination of both
  • Experience preparing financial statements, performing account reconciliations, and analyzing financial results.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI) is a plus.
  • Accounting experience in Distribution, Wholesale, or Retail is a plus
  • CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification is preferred but not required

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret financial information and identify meaningful business insights
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to both finance and non-finance audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across departments and work effectively as a business partner
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail
  • Proactive problem solver who identifies opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with ERP systems required
  • Ability to adapt to changing business priorities while maintaining a positive, team-oriented approach

  • The role is primarily performed in an office setting, but occasionally in a warehouse setting which may include exposure to loud noise, dust, odors, and fluctuating temperatures depending on seasonal conditions.

  • Employees routinely use standard office equipment such as laptop computers, smartphones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and scanners.
