About the Business/Role/Team
The Finance Department plays a critical role in supporting the Reserve Bank of Australia's objectives through financial stewardship, planning, reporting and analysis. Within Finance Partnering, we are driving a significant transformation agenda to strengthen management reporting, cost allocation, and enhance access to trusted financial information across the Bank.
Reporting to the Head of Finance Partnering, you will work closely with Finance Partners, Data Analysts, business stakeholders, project teams and technology specialists to deliver key initiatives under the One Finance program. This role provides the opportunity to influence the future design of Finance processes, reporting frameworks and data capabilities that support better decision-making across the organisation.
About the Role
As a Senior Business Analyst within Finance, you will partner with Finance and technology stakeholders to deliver management reporting and process improvement initiatives that enhance the way Finance supports the Bank.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the consultation, analysis, documentation and management of business requirements for Finance transformation initiatives.
- Support the delivery of key management reporting improvements, including cost allocation enhancements, end-to-end Profit & Loss reporting and forecasting uplift activities.
- Drive the ongoing evolution of the Finance Data Repository (FDR) as part of the One Finance program.
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions to understand business needs, identify opportunities and align future-state solutions.
- Analyse and document business processes, data flows and reporting requirements, identifying opportunities for optimisation and improved efficiency.
- Translate complex financial, business and technical requirements into clear specifications, process maps and user stories.
- Support solution evaluation, testing, implementation and change activities to ensure outcomes deliver value and meet business requirements.
- Contribute to business cases, funding proposals and strategic initiatives by providing business analysis expertise and recommendations.
About You
You are an experienced Senior Business Analyst with a proven track record delivering complex business and technology initiatives within Finance environments. You are equally comfortable engaging senior stakeholders, analysing business processes and working with technical teams to implement practical solutions.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience as a Senior Business Analyst delivering complex transformation, reporting or process improvement initiatives.
- Experience working with Finance stakeholders and strong understanding of finance processes, including management reporting, forecasting, Profit & Loss reporting and cost allocation methodologies.
- Strong capability in requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and traceability management.
- Experience in business process modelling, process improvement, and workflow analysis.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts for both business and technical audiences.
- Demonstrated experience within more than one project methodology such as waterfall, PMBOK, Prince2 and agile-type methodologies and can independently fulfil the BA activities and deliverables accordingly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering practical business outcomes.
- Formal Business Analysis training and/or recognised Business Analysis certification (such as IIBA CBAP) will be highly regarded.
