SUMMARY:

The Sales Engineer serves as the technical expert in the sales process, combining engineering knowledge with strong communication and customer-facing skills. This role works closely with customers to understand their technical needs, recommend appropriate solutions, and support the sales team throughout the pre-sales, proposal, and post-sale stages. The Sales Engineer ensures product compatibility, delivers technical presentations, and collaborates with internal teams to drive revenue and customer satisfaction.

This role does not have supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand customer requirements and provide technical guidance, product recommendations, and solution proposals.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, and training for customers.
  • Prepare and deliver quotes, proposals, and supporting documentation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Act as a liaison between customers, engineering, and sales teams to resolve issues and ensure smooth project execution.
  • Conduct site visits or customer meetings to evaluate needs and present solutions.
  • Stay knowledgeable about product specifications, features, applications, and competitive advantages.
  • Assist customers with system design, product selection, and integration.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support during implementation and after installation.
  • Work with sales leadership to identify new business opportunities and markets.
  • Assist in developing sales strategies, pricing structures, and competitive analyses.
  • Collaborate with marketing to communicate customer needs and contribute to product positioning.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, technical proposals, and project status.
  • Provide feedback to engineering teams on product performance or customer requests.
  • Support forecasting, pipeline reporting, and sales planning activities.

  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to translate technical information into clear business value.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools and sales software.

  • Ability to travel to customer sites as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field)
  • Minimum (2) years of experience in technical sales, applications engineering, or related roles.
