We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Software Engineering Manager.

Business:Asia & Middle East Technology

Principal responsibilities

  • Pod Lead Delegate / delivery leadership: drive day-to-day execution, run ceremonies where needed, manage RAID, and keep scope-plan-outcomes aligned.
  • Own end-to-end delivery across SDLC: design, build, test, release, hypercare, and continuous improvement.
  • Build scalable ELT on BigQuery + dbt: modelling, incremental patterns, optimisation, and cost/performance tuning.
  • Develop and review Python for data processing, automation, validation, and operational tooling (production-quality code).
  • Enable BI outcomes using Apache Superset: support dataset modelling for analytics use, define governed metrics where applicable, and ensure dashboards are performant, trusted, and maintainable.
  • Implement strong data quality and reconciliation controls: rule-based checks, anomaly detection patterns, and clear remediation workflows.
  • Embed NFRs and controls by design: security, access, auditability, lineage, monitoring/alerting, resilience, and operational readiness (runbooks).
  • Drive engineering excellence: code reviews, reusable dbt macros/patterns, standards for testing (dbt tests + Python), and release discipline.
  • Leverage GenAI-enabled delivery responsibly: improve documentation quality, accelerate analysis and test creation, and streamline incident triage—while ensuring human review, data confidentiality, and secure usage.
  • Partner with Architecture/Platform/Security/Controls to align with enterprise standards and governance.
  • People leadership: hiring, onboarding, objectives, coaching, performance management, and career development in an inclusive way.
  • Communicate clearly in English (and collaborate effectively with local stakeholders; Cantonese preferred): design docs, decision papers, status updates, and stakeholder comms.

Requirements

  • Lead end-to-end ETL delivery: requirements, design, build, test, release and production support
  • Strong RDBMS/SQL capability: complex SQL, data analysis, performance tuning and troubleshooting
  • Hands-on Python for data processing and automation (clean, maintainable, production-ready code)
  • Experience enabling analytics/BI delivery, ideally with Apache Superset (dashboards, datasets, performance tuning, stakeholder iteration).
  • Confident in Linux & Shell scripting for job automation, scheduling and incident diagnosis
  • Demonstrated technical ownership: able to work independently, drive decisions and manage delivery risks
  • Proven people leadership: plan work, delegate effectively, coach team members and manage performance
