Job Description

Our miscellaneous division, Winston Steel, is seeking a dynamic Project Manager to join the team.  Our Project Management personnel is responsible for leading our team of professionals in completing projects by a set deadline to uphold business initiatives. Their duties include dividing up their budget for different project aspects and advocating for additional funding when necessary, hiring construction professionals through subcontracting or selecting project team members from existing departments and setting or adjusting project schedules to adhere to deadlines.

Essential Functions

  • Provide purpose, direction, and motivation for the project team to support & assist in achieving project goals
  • Identify project requirements by compiling all information included in the sales documents/final bid proposal, contract, contract schedule, electronic correspondence directly with the client and design team
  • Evaluate project risks and develop strategies to mitigate these risks while maintaining the integrities of both project budget & schedules
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure the project adheres to scope, schedule and budget
  • Consistently analyze project status and, when necessary, revise the scope, schedule, or budget to ensure project requirements are met
  • Establish and/or maintain relationships with clients/stakeholders and vendors, providing day-to-day contact on project status and changes
  • Provide/Perform quality control audits on the project throughout development to maintain the standards set by both the company and the project client
  • Create and/or maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Prioritize and delegate as needed, the different project functions to internal/external project team members on multiple projects simultaneously, as well as make executive & emergent decisions while balancing & maintaining multiple projects
  • Attend weekly project production meeting internally and trade coordination meetings on site as needed
  • Execute project site visits periodically or as often as required to assist & support the client, as well as the project field team

Qualifications

The preferred candidate will have the following qualifications; however complete training is available for the right candidate.

  • Prior experience in the Miscellaneous steel industry 2+ years or 5+ years in Structural Steel
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and understand contract documents including:• Contract Language & Specific Contract Requirements/Scope Of Work
  • Contract Specifications Including [but not limited to] Sections 05 & 09
  • Contract Drawing Sets Including Civil, Architectural, Landscape, & Structural
  • Knowledge of AISC Code Of Standard Practice
  • Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of multiple project stages including sales/estimating, submittals, shop production and field installation
  • Ability to identify changes in project scope and advocate for compensation associated with these changes
  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial construction as it relates to steel components and familiar with “natural” construction flow
  • Strong organizational skills are a must
  • Strong professional client-facing communication skills & internal communication skills
  • Proficient in Bluebeam Revu (Knowledge of Tekla Powerfab is helpful)
  • Ability to gather field verification & dimensions of existing field conditions for a variety of scope items. Be able to identify variables to be considered in the drawing phase and capable of translating this data into terms that allow for proper development of production drawings
  • Ability to travel as needed
