Software Engineer (Devops, Cloud Eng)

Role Purpose

The Software Engineer is required to take a holistic view and be engaged throughout the development lifecycle of products. They will participate in and occasionally drive all our R&D activities. Subject to their specialization, they will be involved in the design, development, testing, publishing, and/or support of different cloud-based products and solutions. The role will work closely with a global team of engineers to build robust solutions that meet our business objectives following continuous integration and continuous deployment processes, while providing guidance to associate level engineers. Additionally, they will provide recommendations to management as to process, technologies, or other improvements intended to benefit productivity, efficiency and/or quality of the solutions developed by the team and occasionally lead the implementation of new solutions.

Area Key Skills

Core Tasks

• Support Devops activities and Product development and maintenance initiatives ensuring global customer success.

• Initial ramp up is expected to be based on small product issue resolution building to new feature development.

• Evaluate whether implementation tasks meet feature requirements and work with Team Lead and Technical Architect to ensure it does

• Develop features using best practices and ensure it fits with the architecture for the product

• Ensure the right work is being done, work with Team Lead to know that product qualities like, unit tests, automation, throughout, capacities, security & performance will be sufficient

• Ensure design and implementation work meets the stakeholder’s requirements

• Ensure that the feature design is correct for operations, as well as deployment and sustainability

• Ongoing evaluation (test) of feature design – proactively work with others to identify issues or potential risk areas with the architecture (for example – performance)

• Identify, monitor and resolve feature related issues; escalate if individual resolution is not possible

• Support departmental and team initiatives

Skills

• Backend Development

• Production experience building REST APIs and backend microservices in Go/Python.

• Experience building scalable, event-driven applications with Cloud and DevOps practices

Cloud

• 2+ years of AWS/GCP and/or OKD / OpenShift development production experience

• Familiarity with environment-tiered infrastructure management (DEV / STG / PROD / multi-region).

• Experience configuring and maintaining API gateways (Gravitee, APIM or equivalent).

CI/CD Pipeline

• 3+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines; GitHub and Harness strongly preferred.

• Proven ability to design multi-stage pipelines with input sets, service overrides, webhook triggers, and parallelized build strategies.

• Experience managing branch-based image tagging and container registry workflows (e.g. Quay, DockerHub etc.).

Kubernetes

• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes’ core components, including Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, HPAs, and health probes.

• Experience multi-region deployments across Kubernetes, OpenShift (OKD), AKS, and EKS.

• Proficient in Docker and Container lifecycle management.

• Secondary Skills

• Messaging : Working knowledge of NATS, Kafka, and MQ, including deployment, persistence, consumer groups, metrics, and credential management.

Observability & Alerting: Experience with Datadog, New Relic, Dynatrace, OpsGenie, and Jira Service Management (JSM); familiarity with Prometheus/Grafana is a plus.

Security & Compliance: Exposure to Black Duck, BrightScan, SonarQube, Snyk, and other SAST/SCA tools, with awareness of DevSecOps practices.

AI/GenAI Tooling: Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Cursor.

Networking: Working understanding of DNS, load balancing, firewalls, VPCs, and NAT in cloud environments.

Optional Skills

• AWS Certification: AWS Solutions Architect, Developer, or DevOps Engineer certification is a strong advantage.

• Documentation: Track record of maintaining high-quality Confluence runbooks, architecture docs, and deployment guides.

• In-Memory / Cache Infrastructure: Experience deploying Valkey/ Redis from official Helm/Docker images.

• Test Automation: Familiarity with E2E test frameworks such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Playwright for validating API and UI flows.

• Advanced AI / GenAI Concepts: Understanding of Prompt Engineering, RAG, AI Agents, Vector DBs, and Responsible AI practices. Experience integrating applications with LLM APIs or conversational AI platforms.

SRE / Chaos Engineering: Nice to have experience with Chaos Engineering or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices

Education

• Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or Equivalent with 3+ years of work experience
