Job Requirements TheProduct Designer is responsible for designing, maintaining, and evolving a scalable design system that enables consistent, accessible, and user-centered experiences across digital products. Working closely with Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, Content Strategists, and Accessibility specialists, this role creates reusable components, interaction patterns, and design standards that improve usability, accelerate delivery, and promote consistency across applications.
The Product Designer collaborates across multiple product teams to design cohesive experiences for shared capabilities such as navigation, authentication, search, notifications, help content, and other cross-product interactions. This role champions accessibility and inclusive design, develops design documentation and implementation guidance, and partners with engineering to ensure design system components are practical, scalable, and aligned with modern web standards.
At Fearless, the consultant ensures that products and services are intuitive, accessible, and meet the needs of diverse users. This role will possess and/or develop the skills to be able to span the domains of Content Design, Product Design, Service Design, Content Strategy, and User Research at a practical application level of proficiency. This Consultant role will work on projects that allow them to implement evidence-based solutions that balance organizational goals with user needs, while fostering inclusive and sustainable design practices across the organization.

Your Responsibilities in this Role:
●Lead the evolution and governance of the organization's design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, accessibility, and usability across products.
●Define and maintain reusable UI components, interaction patterns, and implementation guidance in collaboration with design and engineering teams. Partner with engineering teams to improve shared platform capabilities, including navigation components, file upload experiences, validation patterns, and other reusable user interface elements.
●Drive cross-product user experience strategy by designing cohesive experiences that span multiple applications and user journeys.
● Collaborate across product workstreams to define shared interaction models, navigation patterns, search experiences, contextual help strategies, and notification frameworks.
●Balance competing stakeholder needs while establishing scalable UX solutions that can be adopted across multiple teams and products. Ensure design decisions align with accessibility standards, usability best practices, and modern web standards.
●Lead accessibility initiatives across products, including browser compatibility, assistive technology support, email accessibility, and multilingual experiences.
● Partner closely with Product Managers, Content Strategists, Engineers, and Accessibility specialists throughout discovery, design, implementation, and validation.
●Advocate for user-centered design principles while balancing technical constraints and business objectives.
●Create documentation, standards, and implementation guidance that enable teams to consistently adopt shared design patterns.
● Review product implementations to ensure alignment with established design system standards and accessibility requirements.

Work Experience Project Skill and Experience Requirements
●3+ years of experience in UX, Product Design, Interaction Design, or Design Systems.
●Demonstrated experience building, maintaining, and governing enterprise-scale design systems.
●Experience designing complex workflows that span multiple products or platforms. Strong understanding of human-centered design, information architecture, interaction design, and visual hierarchy.
●Experience working closely with front-end engineering teams and understanding modern web technologies.
●Deep knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1/2.2, ARIA, keyboard navigation, screen reader support, and inclusive design practices.
●Experience validating designs across browsers, devices, assistive technologies, and email clients.
● Experience designing multilingual and localization-ready user experiences.
●Familiarity with design systems built using modern component libraries such as the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS), Material Design, or similar enterprise frameworks.
●Experience facilitating cross-functional collaboration and driving alignment across multiple product teams.
●Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
●Experience using modern design and collaboration tools such as Figma, FigJam, Jira, and Confluence.
Preferred Experience
●Experience working on enterprise SaaS or government digital services.
● Experience with USWDS and federal accessibility requirements.
●Knowledge of front-end implementation considerations (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, component-based frameworks)
●Experience establishing design governance processes and design review practices.
●Experience working within Agile product delivery environments.

- Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).

The salary range for this position is:
Minimum Salary: $77,326
Salary Midpoint: $100,524
Maximum Salary: $125,655
Hiring Range for Role: $77,326 - $115,000
*This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance criteria.
