Skillforce has teamed up with a leading mechanical contractor to find a skilled Mechanical Construction Project Manager to work on their commercial and industrial projects.
This is a full-time, direct hire position based out of Charleston, SC with occasional local travel.
Mechanical Construction Project Manager Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $110-$150k depending on experience level
- Background check, drug screen, and MVR required

Mechanical Construction Project Manager Key Responsibilities
- Manage project startup, contracts, permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
- Review drawings, specifications, and contracts to identify scope gaps, conflicts, and constructability issues.
- Oversee procurement, project buyout, vendor relationships, purchase orders, and long-lead materials.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost tracking, billing, invoicing, and change orders.
- Monitor project schedules, manpower needs, milestones, and recovery plans.
- Conduct jobsite visits and ensure work meets project specifications, codes, and quality standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, GCs, architects, engineers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in BIM/VDC coordination and support field installation planning.
- Partner with the Superintendent to resolve issues and maintain field productivity.
- Oversee commissioning, punch lists, O&M manuals, warranties, as-builts, and final closeout.
- Mentor junior project staff and promote a professional, accountable team environment.
Mechanical Construction Project Manager Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; related degree preferred.
- 7+ years of commercial mechanical construction experience, including 5+ years managing projects.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal systems.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and schedules.
- Strong financial, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Mechanical contracting, Design-Build, BIM/VDC, and OSHA 30 experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office preferred.
