ABOUT THE ROLE

As we continue to look for more sustainable ways to build, we need world-class talent to join our team. This opportunity will be a 10-week, paid internship beginning June 1, 2027.

This internship will be based in Chicago, IL.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

As a Cybersecurity/IT Intern, you will work directly alongside our internal Cyber Team and external security partners/vendors to learn how an enterprise security ecosystem operates. You will gain hands-on experience in threat monitoring, security documentation, and vendor alignment while assisting with everyday security operations. This role is designed to give you a foundational understanding of corporate cybersecurity with plenty of room to explore specialized areas—such as threat analysis, vendor management, or vulnerability management—based on your interests.

  • Cyber Operations & Monitoring: Assist senior analysts in reviewing security alerts, reviewing log data from our monitoring tools, and documenting preliminary findings.
  • Vendor Engagement & Support: Shadow team members during meetings with external security vendors, help track vendor deliverables, and assist in compiling data for third-party risk reviews.
  • Vulnerability & Patch Coordination: Help track routine vulnerability scan results and assist in coordinating with internal teams to verify that necessary security patches are applied.
  • Security Documentation & Policies: Support the maintenance of security incident playbooks, network documentation, and vendor contact registries to keep our security operations organized.
  • Safety Protocols: Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
  • Special Projects & Skill Growth: Take ownership of a capstone project (e.g., building a threat intelligence report, updating phishing training materials, or evaluating a vendor tool) tailored to your specific cybersecurity career interests.
  • Executive Presentation: At the end of your internship, you will present your key learnings, project outcomes, and growth areas to our security and leadership team.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for enthusiastic students who meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar.
  • Strong academic performance with a solid understanding of IT and computing priciples.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • High energy and a proactive approach to tackling new challenges.
  • A team player who can collaborate across different levels of the organization.

SCHEDULE AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Work Schedule: This is a hybrid role with a mandatory 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, working an 8-hour shift each day.
  • Work Environment: This role will be based out of the Downtown Chicago Office.
  • Transportation: Interns are responsible for their own transportation to and from their worksites.
