Role Purpose

Palsatech is looking for an International Project Manager to take a key role in the planning, ramp-up and operational execution of our international customer projects.

The International Project Manager is responsible for turning new customer projects from plans into well-functioning operational setups. The role covers the operational project lifecycle from tender-stage planning and project preparation through mobilization, ramp-up and operational execution to performance monitoring, project close-out and post-project analysis.

A key objective of the role is to ensure that new projects are launched in a controlled manner and delivered safely, efficiently, with high quality and with a strong focus on profitability.

Key Responsibilities

New Project Planning and Ramp-Up

  • Lead the operational planning and start-up of new international customer projects.
  • Prepare project execution, implementation and resource plans in cooperation with sales and other relevant functions.
  • Plan personnel, equipment, facilities, logistics and other operational requirements.
  • Coordinate project mobilization and ramp-up and ensure operational readiness before project launch.
  • Identify operational and commercial risks and ensure they are appropriately addressed during project planning.
  • Support the transition from the sales and tendering phase into operational execution.

Operational Project Execution

  • Coordinate and support the operational execution of international customer projects.
  • Monitor project schedules, resources, costs, quality and operational performance.
  • Work closely with local project teams and supervisors to ensure successful project execution.
  • Identify deviations and operational bottlenecks and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with Palsatech’s operating practices, quality requirements and operational standards.

Project Financial Performance and Cost Efficiency

  • Monitor the cost efficiency and financial performance of ongoing projects.
  • Analyze actual project costs against plans, budgets and targets.
  • Conduct post-project reviews and cost analyses in cooperation with finance and operational teams.
  • Identify key factors affecting project profitability and opportunities for improvement.
  • Use actual project data and lessons learned to improve the planning and cost estimation of future projects.

Sales and Tendering Support

  • Support sales in the operational planning and tendering of new customer projects.
  • Participate in preparing project cost estimates, budgets and resource calculations.
  • Assess operational costs, resource requirements and execution risks related to tenders.
  • Utilize historical project data to improve tender calculations and pricing.
  • Participate, when required, in customer discussions related to project planning and operational execution.

Development of Project Operating Models

  • Develop Palsatech’s operating models for the planning, mobilization, ramp-up and execution of international projects.
  • Ensure that lessons learned from completed projects are systematically applied to future projects.
  • Develop project monitoring, reporting and key operational performance indicators.
  • Promote consistent operating practices across Palsatech’s international operations.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a hands-on, analytical and solution-oriented professional who is comfortable taking responsibility for turning a new customer project into an operational reality.

You should have:

  • Relevant experience in project management, project execution or operational management, preferably 5+ years in a project-based environment.
  • Practical experience in planning, mobilizing, ramping up and/or executing customer projects or new operational setups.
  • Good understanding of project economics, cost structures, budgeting and cost control.
  • Experience in resource planning and coordinating personnel, equipment, logistics and other operational requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership in an international and rapidly developing environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the Nordic countries and internationally.

Experience from mining, mineral exploration, geological services, industrial services, engineering or other project-based industrial environments is considered a strong advantage.

Knowledge of Finnish and/or Swedish is considered an advantage.

Location

The preferred location for the position is Finland or Sweden, with a particular advantage for candidates based in Northern Finland or Northern Sweden.

Other Nordic locations may also be considered for candidates with a strong fit for the role.

The position involves regular travel to Palsatech’s operations, customer sites and project locations in the Nordic countries and internationally.
