Full description

We’re looking for a smart, capable Junior Data Analyst to join us in supporting and advancing our analytics capabilities at PARGO. As a data-driven business, we offer an exciting work environment and a chance to be part of a fast-growing company that is disrupting the ecommerce delivery landscape in South Africa.

About the role

You are a highly analytical, curious, and self-motivated individual looking to kickstart or grow your career in data. In this centralized role, you will engage with stakeholders across the business (including the commercial, operations, and engineering teams) to learn how different departments leverage data.

Your primary focus will be to maintain foundational data models, handle ad-hoc data requests, and build or update reports that support sound business decisions. Working closely with the Data Analyst, you will be mentored to execute our data strategy and help foster a data-driven culture throughout the organization.

What you will be responsible for

  • Stakeholder Support: Assist business stakeholders across departments with daily data requests and ad-hoc analyses.
  • Dashboard & Reporting: Help design, maintain, and update stakeholder dashboards and reports, primarily within the Zoho business suite.
  • Data Quality & Problem Solving: Work collaboratively to identify data discrepancies, conduct basic data audits, and help clarify reporting procedures.
  • Process Documentation: Analyze and document existing business and data processes to help improve efficiency.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside the Head of Data & Systems and senior analysts to learn how to curate and develop larger data projects.

Requirements

What we’re looking for

Experience

  • 0–2 years of experience in a data-centric role, or a strong portfolio of projects demonstrating your data skills (open to ambitious graduates).
  • To thrive in our fast-growing scaleup environment, you need to be eager to learn, adaptable, and proactive.
  • It's essential to learn quickly from our existing models and systems, maintaining them with high attention to detail.

Core technical skills

  • Solid foundational knowledge of SQL (ability to write basic to intermediate queries).
  • Strong proficiency in Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, basic formulas).
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for spotting inconsistencies in data.
  • Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain data findings clearly.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to dashboarding tools (Zoho Analytics, PowerBI, or Tableau) is advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of Python is a plus but not required.
  • Interest: A keen interest in ecommerce, logistics, and delivery service trends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a closely related quantitative field.
  • A strong foundation in analytical problem-solving and systems thinking is expected.

You are someone who:

  • Thinks systematically and questions assumptions.
  • Cares deeply about data quality and reliability.
  • Can explain complex data concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Takes ownership and follows work through to impact.
  • Is comfortable operating with changing priorities in a growing business.
  • Improves what already exists instead of defaulting to rebuilds.

Benefits

Why join PARGO

  • Work on real, high-impact data problems in logistics and e-commerce.
  • Influence how data is modeled and used across the business.
  • Learn from experienced, hands-on leaders in a scale-up environment.
  • Competitive remuneration.
  • Contribution to medical aid and group life cover.
  • Flexible working hours and hybrid setup.
  • Strong focus on personal growth and skill development.
  • A collaborative team culture and a great office in Gardens, Cape Town.
