Job Description
Summary of the Role.  The Project Manager's role is to ensure the successful delivery of this capital infrastructure project and will ensure that project team members are provided with direction and support to lead, manage and deliver projects, and achieve project outputs. Infrastructure delivery is a challenging environment in which to work, with interdependencies between the required programmes and projects and the need to maintain military outputs. The candidate will be required to deliver at pace and demonstrate effective application of programme and project management skills, tools and techniques.
TASKS
🚧 Project Management & Delivery
- 🏗️ Lead the preparation, delivery and commissioning of infrastructure projects from inception through to completion.
- 🎯 Establish and deliver clear project objectives, ensuring successful outcomes aligned to business needs.
- 👥 Build and lead high-performing teams, fostering collaboration, accountability and stakeholder engagement.
- 🤝 Manage contracts, suppliers and industry partners, monitoring quality, cost, schedule and performance against agreed obligations.
- ⚠️ Proactively identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies to prevent delays and cost escalation.
- 💷 Manage project budgets, cashflow forecasts and expenditure, providing accurate financial reporting and forecasting.
- 📊 Review, challenge and monitor project schedules, milestones and key delivery stages to ensure progress remains on track.
- ✅ Support and provide evidence for project assurance, gateway reviews and governance activities.
- 🔄 Oversee change control processes, assessing impacts and making recommendations on proposed project changes.
- 📈 Maintain project plans, forecasts, estimates and configuration management records to ensure effective project control.
- 📑 Ensure compliance with client processes, operating procedures and infrastructure governance requirements.
- 🔒 Manage contract close-out activities, ensuring all contractual, commercial and maintenance obligations have been fulfilled.
- 🛡️ Apply strong risk management principles, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, monitored and mitigated throughout the project lifecycle.
- 📢 Provide clear reporting and communications to senior management, customers and key stakeholders, ensuring confidence in project delivery.
 
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE 
🎯 Essential Requirements
- 🏗️ Hands-on construction background with practical building services experience, rather than a purely consultancy-based career.
- 🚧 Proven experience delivering infrastructure and construction projects through all phases of delivery.
- 💷 Strong commercial awareness, with a solid understanding of package costs, value management and the ability to challenge Compensation Events (CEs) where required.
- 📋 Extensive experience managing project delivery under NEC4 contracts, including change management, contract administration and stakeholder engagement.
- 💻 Strong IT skills and proficiency in project management and reporting tools.
⭐ Desirable Experience
- 🏭 Experience managing projects within complex live operational or highly regulated environments.
- 📑 Strong understanding of governance and the importance of following due process within regulated facilities.
- 🤝 Experience working within collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams and contractor environments.
- 🔄 Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to respond to changing project priorities and requirements.
- 📈 Good understanding of project planning, Gantt charts and critical path analysis.
- 🛠️ Experience using CEMAR or similar contract management systems.
🎓 Qualifications & Training
✅ Essential
- 📚 Demonstrable experience working under NEC4 contracts.
- 🏗️ Minimum 10 years' construction and commissioning experience.
- 👨‍💼 At least 5 years in a project management or leadership role.
⭐ Desirable
- 🏅 Membership of a relevant professional body.
- 🌉 Civil Engineering background.
- 📖 NEC Project Manager accreditation or formal NEC training.
