Full description

The Attractions Construction Senior Project Manager is responsible for planning, pricing, scheduling, organizing, and directly overseeing execution of Attractions construction and renovation projects, from scope development through completion. This is a combined project management and on-site leadership role, covering both the business side of a project (budgets, contracts, pricing, schedules) and hands-on coordination and oversight of work in progress. This temporary position offers the potential to transition into a permanent role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assessing project scope and obtaining, evaluating, and negotiating pricing from contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers for outstanding work packages.
  • Developing, updating, and maintaining project schedules, resequencing work and adjusting timelines as issues arise.
  • Organizing and directly coordinating work in progress, including sequencing trades, mobilizing contractors and subcontractors, and driving work to completion.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact on-site for engineers, manufacturers, and relevant regulatory and inspection authorities, ensuring inspections, sign-offs, and compliance requirements are tracked and satisfied.
  • Conducting regular site inspections and daily oversight of construction activity, including work occurring outside standard hours as needed, to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
  • Managing change orders, contract fulfillment, and budget tracking, and reporting cost and schedule status to Attractions leadership.
  • Enforcing OH&S protocols and safety practices on-site, including safety meetings, audits, and inspections, and ensuring all personnel comply with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate project records, including daily reports, updated schedules, financials, and incident reports.
  • Coordinating punch-list resolution, final inspections, and commissioning/close-out activities.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with internal Attractions management, maintenance, and design teams, as well as external contractors and regulatory bodies.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in construction or project management, ideally including large-scale commercial, industrial, or attractions-related construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience pricing and negotiating project scope and change orders on active construction projects, not just initial project set-up.
  • Strong scheduling skills (Gantt-based schedule management) and experience re-sequencing and recovering schedules on in-progress projects.
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field; PMP or P.Eng. designation an asset.
  • Experience working with industrial electrical planning, installations and evaluation is a definite asset for the position.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple contractors and subcontractors simultaneously and drive projects through to completion.
  • Working knowledge of OH&S requirements, industrial construction methods, and safety practices for large-scale construction projects.
  • High level of proficiency reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interface with executives, engineers, inspectors, and trades.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and scheduling software; AutoCAD knowledge an asset.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires flexibility, including the possibility of weekends, holidays, and off-hours work to support project timelines and the Mall's operational needs.
  • Requires availability to oversee work occurring outside of regular operating hours, including overnight work as needed on a regular basis.
  • Compensation is salaried and dependent on experience and qualifications.
  • Must be able to pass a security clearance; an NDA regarding project specifications is required.
