Primary Purpose of Role

The Hardware Delivery Manager has day-to-day accountability for the delivery of the Hardware activities across their team including bids and projects; activities will largely be discharged through their xEMs. Maintaining close collaboration with EDMs, xArc and HoEDs within the wider project teams to ensure latest business demand is clearly understood and captured to ensure correct scaling of their team.

Excellence in execution will be achieved by tracking and reporting the performance of the engineering delivery activities, using KPI’s, the Hardware Delivery Manager provides guidance leadership, intervention, and support to their team to achieve bid and project delivery. The Hardware Delivery Manager leads the optimisation of resource allocation across their team to best meet the demand shown within S&OP process.

The Hardware Delivery Manager is responsible for building stakeholder relationships with engineering leaders throughout the engineering teams and leveraging these stakeholders to support the effective and competitive delivery of engineering activities within the portfolio environment. Support xEM in providing accurate schedule, resource, and cost data to the EDMs or PMs as necessary.

The Hardware Delivery Manager drives collaboration with the xEM, xARC and EDMs to ensure an effective workflow through requirements and solution design and into system verification, validation, and qualification.

The Hardware Delivery Manager works collaboratively with functional team leads to implement new ways of working, ensuring the team are operating in an environment of best practice, executing continuous improvement initiatives to drive synergies and improves efficiencies.

When required the Hardware Delivery Manager will also perform the role of xEM.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Provide leadership to Portfolio Hw team as Workday Mngr 2 (xEMs have dual Mngr 2 reporting lines, the 2nd being into the EDM who provides project delivery responsibility)
  • Act as an engineering operational focal point within your team, providing leadership and direction in support of project deliveries
  • Manage your team to meet operational needs, assigning your members as required to best meet operational needs, communicate effectively with project Leads (e.g. EDMs & PMs) escalate to Portfolio HoED when you are unable to resolve issues locally
  • Accurately capture and track demand, manage your team size to discharge the project work within your perimeter
  • Work with the discipline HoD & Functional team leads to Identify key skills needed by your team, balancing operational needs with the need to support development, jointly drive through adoption of key domain skills needed in the short and long term through training and KTPs,
  • Proactively coach xEMs to improve their delivery skills and identify potential succession planning”
