What you'll do...
As a Senior Designer on the Global Design Systems team, you’ll help shape the foundational building blocks that power product experiences across millions of users. Your focus will be on creating modern, high-performing components, maintaining the system’s visual and interaction foundations, and ensuring design-to-code alignment through close collaboration with engineering.You’ll bring clarity to complexity—translating design decisions into scalable tokens and reusable patterns that drive consistency and innovation. You’ll contribute to a system that empowers product teams to build faster, better, and more accessible experiences--while advancing how AI and automation streamline workflows for designers and developers alike.
About the team:
The Global Design Systems team develops and maintains standards that enhance experiences across Walmart’s products and services worldwide. This team creates engaging digital solutions for customers, associates, and partners in various environments, including home, stores, and mobile platforms. Their work spans a broad portfolio, from consumer-facing platforms to supply chain applications. In this role, you will support associates by delivering systems that enable faster, more confident decision-making, contributing to seamless and efficient user experiences throughout Walmart’s extensive ecosystem. What you'll do: • Designing at a high level of craft for a broad population of users.
- Leading a roadmap of work and collaborating seamlessly with cross-functional partners through delivery.
- Actively soliciting feedback from peers and cross-functional stakeholders through the product design lifecycle.
- Eagerness to support, bringing a service mindset to daily user questions and feedback.
- Championing AI-native ways of working
- Engaging the design research team at the right points during the design process to ensure the right insights inform the work.
- Rapid prototyping and experimenting in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll bring:
- Strong understanding of enterprisescale design systems, including tokens, patterns, components, theming and usage documentation, and system-compliant AI context management.
- Experience in AI-native tools like Cursor, Claude, or similar.
- Familiarity with engineering workflows, versioning, and how design tokens translate into code (e.g., JSON, CSS variables)
- Builds and maintains system libraries—with an eye toward generative UX and AI-assisted design workflows.
- Actively contributes to design system governance
- Uses systems thinking to simplify complexity and create intuitive, scalable solutions.
- Facilitates Design Thinking to unlock creativity and alignment across cross-functional teams.
- Embraces ambiguity and energizes teams through change.
- Leads by example—mentoring, doing, and shaping team culture.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 3 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area. Option 2: 5 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.
