Allata is looking for a QA Automation Engineer to join a client product team and play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of a growing technology platform.
This is an opportunity for a QA professional who enjoys working across the full testing lifecycle, combining automation expertise with strong exploratory testing and a product-oriented mindset. Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain end-to-end UI automation for an Angular application using Cypress.
- Develop and maintain automated API and contract tests for Spring Boot REST services and SQS/SNS event flows.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines, keeping tests fast, reliable, and maintainable.
- Translate Jira acceptance criteria and Figma designs into comprehensive test plans and scenarios.
- Perform exploratory, regression, and functional testing across QA and UAT environments.
- Identify, document, and communicate defects with clear reproduction steps, expected vs. actual results, and relevant evidence.
- Partner with developers and product stakeholders to drive effective defect triage and resolution.
- Continuously assess automation coverage and identify opportunities to improve test reliability, speed, and effectiveness.
- Use AI tools to generate test cases, scaffold automation, analyze failures, and expand coverage, while critically validating AI-generated output.
- Contribute to improving QA processes, testing standards, and release quality across the product.
Hard Skills:
- Experience in QA, including 2+ years focused on test automation.
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills.
- Hands-on experience with Cypress or Playwright.
- Experience with API testing using tools such as REST Assured, Postman/Newman, Karate, or similar.
- Comfortable reading and understanding Java/Spring Boot code to support effective API and backend testing.
- Experience testing REST APIs and event-driven architectures, ideally including SQS/SNS.
- Familiarity with MongoDB queries for test data setup, validation, and verification.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands-on experience using AI assistants in a software testing workflow, with a practical understanding of where they add value and where their output can be misleading.
Nice to have:
- Experience with performance testing tools such as k6 or Gatling.
- Experience with accessibility testing.
- Experience testing feature-flagged releases and gradual rollouts.
- Experience working with complex SaaS or consumer-facing products.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a risk-based approach to testing.
- High attention to detail while maintaining awareness of business and user impact.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of release quality.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with developers and product stakeholders.
- Curious and proactive about improving testing practices, tools, and automation coverage.
- Comfortable challenging assumptions and asking questions when requirements or acceptance criteria are unclear.
- Pragmatic approach to automation, with a clear understanding of what should be automated versus what is better suited for exploratory testing.
- Fluent English.
