Overview

PM Group's Outsourced Technical Services (OTS) department are currently seeking to recruit a Senior Project Manager to be based on our clients Pharmaceutical facility in County Galway.

As a Senior Project Manager you will lead a multi-disciplinary function spanning maintenance, utilities, calibration, projects, facilities and automation. You will play a central role in ensuring the site operates safely, compliantly and reliably, while driving continuous improvement, digitalisation, sustainability and long-term engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

As the sites Senior Project Manager responsibilities will be as follows:

Leadership and strategy:

Develop and deliver site engineering and technical services strategy, ensuring engineering priorities are aligned with site performance, compliance, safety and business growth objectives.

Management and coaching plus development of high-performing teams across maintenance, utilities, calibration, projects, facilities and automation, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Partner with site leadership and value streams to improve OEE, equipment reliability and operational efficiency across key production processes.

Engineering governance and compliance:

Maintain GMP-compliant systems, equipment and engineering standards, ensuring readiness for regulatory inspections and alignment with HPRA, FDA and EU GMP expectations.

Own and continuously improve engineering policies, procedures and governance processes, creating clear standards that support safe, compliant and efficient operations.

Maintenance, reliability and operational excellence:

Lead preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance programmes to reduce downtime, improve equipment performance and minimise equipment-related deviations.

Embed reliability engineering practices, data-led decision-making and disciplined KPI management to drive sustainable improvements in uptime, OEE and site performance.

Capital projects, facilities and digitalisation:

Lead the CAPEX portfolio and major site projects from concept through design, construction, commissioning, qualification and handover, ensuring delivery to budget, schedule and compliance expectations.

Oversee site facilities, utilities, buildings, grounds and contractor control, including HVAC, water systems, boilers, chillers, compressed air and cleanroom utilities.

Champion automation, MES, data integrity, Industry 4.0, cybersecurity for control systems, sustainability and energy-saving initiatives that strengthen the site’s future capability.

Qualifications

Ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant senior engineering leadership experience in a pharmaceutical, life sciences or GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of EU GMP and HPRA/FDA expectations, with proven experience supporting inspection readiness and compliant operations.
  • Demonstrated success leading maintenance strategy, reliability improvement, CAPEX delivery and cross-functional engineering teams.
