About Us

At ANZ, we're applying new ways technology and data can be harnessed as we work towards a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.

Our community of over 5,000 engineers is key to making this happen, because technology underpins every part of our business - from delivering tools, apps and services for our customers, to building a bank for the future.

About the Role

As a Site Reliability Engineer in ANZ Plus, you’ll play a key role in helping to build and shape our SRE function. This role is responsible for ensuring agreement of service levels (eg SLIs, SLOs), continuous automation and improvement of the solution to meet these service levels.

Banking is changing and we’re changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Whatever your role at ANZ, you’ll be building your future, while helping to build ours.

Role Type: Permanent Role Location: Bengaluru Work Hours: Regular Shifts(Hybrid/Blended)

Please note that while this advertisement is for a single role, there are multiple vacancies available for this position.

What will your day look like?

  • As a SRE at ANZ Plus, you will be instrumental in helping build out the medium to long term strategy of SRE within your domain.
  • You will apply SRE principles to ensure that we build, monitor, and measure what is important.
  • You will work collaboratively with other SRE leaders and teams across ANZ Plus to continually drive down the cost of operations, increase efficiency, and build a strong reliability culture.
  • You will be a role model for technical execution. You will take ownership of complex and ambiguous problems, and you will mentor other engineers through their challenges.
  • You will need to be comfortable with constantly learning new tools and techniques along with running proof of concept evaluations to keep us on the leading edge.
  • We will turn to you for suggestions on how to improve the platforms, processes, and tools. We expect that you already have great ideas you can share at our cloud guilds & user groups, along with industry Meetups.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Must have 10+years relevant experience
  • Expertise coding in one or more languages (Go, Java, Python, or other scripting languages).
  • Expertise with common Infrastructure as Code tools. For example, Terraform or CloudFomation.
  • Expertise with one or more Continuous Intergration / Deployment tools. For example, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or BuildKite.
  • Expertise in cloud computing across one or more major public cloud providers. For example, GCP, AWS, or Azure.
  • Proficient with Kubernetes, or equivalent container orchestration tooling.
  • Experience working with operations and architecture groups developing scalable and supportable solutions
  • Experience with common monitoring and observability tooling. For example, Honeycomb, Splunk, Dynatrace, etc.
  • While none of our engineers have all the skills above, they do all code. The particular language and tools used are not as important as your development skills and learning aptitude.

You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we’d love to hear from you.
