Job Description
Role Overview
The Project Manager manages specific scopes, phases, or sectors of the data centre new build project (such as fit-outs, specific floors, or utility buildings). They ensure day-to-day project operations run smoothly, resolving issues in real-time and maintaining clean documentation.
Comprehensive Job Scope & Responsibilities
- Package Scope Delivery: Manage the execution of assigned construction scopes, such as data hall fit-outs, office area blocks, or external utility yards. Ensure delivery matches technical drawings and specifications.
- RFI and Submittal Administration: Review and process Requests for Information (RFIs) and material submittals. Coordinate with designers, QPs, and contractors to resolve technical questions quickly and avoid site delays.
- Site Coordination and Progress Walks: Conduct daily site inspections to check contractor progress, identify trade conflicts, and ensure work matches approved drawings.
- Meeting Facilitation: Lead regular progress meetings, look-ahead scheduling sessions, and trade coordination meetings. Clear up blockers and hold contractors accountable for their tasks.
- Progress Reporting: Write detailed weekly and monthly progress reports for the senior management team. Track key performance indicators (KPIs), schedule health, and open site issues.
- Regulatory Compliance Verification: Review contractor submittals to ensure materials match local regulatory standards, such as Singapore Standards for electrical installations or lightning protection.
Qualifications
- Years of Experience: 5 to 8 years of construction project management experience. At least 2 to 3 years must be spent on data centres or high-tech facilities (such as pharmaceutical plants).
- Technical Mastery: Solid knowledge of architectural finishes, structural containment paths, fiber routing, and core mechanical and electrical installations.
- Construction Sequencing Knowledge: Clear understanding of construction logic, trade dependencies, and handovers. This includes completing raised floors before installing server racks and finishing containment before running cables.
- PM Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience running workflows in Procore, updating task lists in Smartsheet, and reviewing design files and models in ACC.
- Education & Professional Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Building, or Construction Management. PMP training or certification is an advantage
