Full description

The BA/QA Tester is part of a dynamic team testing a large scale, high-performance market surveillance system to monitor financial exchanges and ATS’s in Canada. The BA/QA Tester will be testing and migrating the existing outdated VB application—currently used for market certification test cases—to Power Apps, leveraging AI tools, and helping to enhance overall reporting capabilities.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Execute test plans and test cases while adhering to established testing standards and procedures.
  • Assist with testing and documentation of new enhancements by writing and executing test scripts.
  • Review documented requirements and execute functional and non-functional tests to validate expected system behaviour.
  • Create and develop test cases and suites based on project requirements and testing standards
  • Identify, document, and track bugs using Azure DevOps. Collaborate with the development team to prioritize and resolve issues, ensuring that all bugs are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain test cases within Azure DevOps. Link test cases to corresponding work items to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Generate and analyze reports on work items and bug status, test coverage, and other key metrics using Azure DevOps dashboards.
  • Support the enhancement of reporting and dashboard capabilities by identifying opportunities to improve data visualization, reporting efficiency, and user experience.
  • Assist developers in preparation with test data and unit test cases development

Must Haves

  • University degree or college certification in Business, Information Systems.
  • 1-2 years of related technical testing, business and project experience.
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux-based systems
  • Experience with databases, data mapping, and query & reporting tools - SQL
  • Hands on experience with DevOps tools: Azure DevOps
  • Knowledge with Microsoft Office 365, Power BI, Microsoft Azure and Azure Active Directory
  • Understanding of all phases of software testing - Functional, Integration, Regression, User Acceptance and Release Management
  • Basic programming knowledge with familiarity in Python
  • Ability to learn new technologies and leverage AI tools effectively to improve productivity

Nice-to-Haves

  • Knowledge in testing methodologies, design and implementation, and comprehensive test case development
  • Solid analytical, planning, negotiating and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Exposure to Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) is an asset.
  • Understanding of Agile methodology, SDLC and STLC principles
