Full description

Based in Montreal and reporting to the Director, Residential Development, the Design Project Manager (Multi-Residential) is fully responsible for the projects assigned to them, including leading external professionals, managing budgets, and ensuring that project schedules are met.

  • Take full ownership of assigned projects;
  • Lead external professionals to ensure projects meet established objectives related to budget, schedule, design, and quality;
  • Ensure compliance with project budgets and schedules;
  • Drive projects forward and ensure timely progress;
  • Supervise the construction team to ensure compliance with budgets and schedules;
  • Ensure the overall quality of projects;
  • Ensure a smooth transition of completed projects to the Operations Department;
  • Establish requirements and objectives for external professionals and conduct an initial selection process;
  • Request proposals from professionals, analyze submissions, and negotiate fees;
  • Ensure selected professional service agreements are signed by the Vice President, Construction;
  • Identify geotechnical requirements, request service proposals, and negotiate contracts;
  • Determine the appropriate building structural system in consultation with the Technical Reviewer;
  • Review budget estimates;
  • Provide clear direction to professionals and ensure compliance with the project's technical and budgetary objectives;
  • Coordinate the review of plans by the Technical Reviewer;
  • Prepare the construction schedule;
  • Oversee project mobilization and construction activities;
  • Coordinate the needs of existing and/or new tenants, assess budget impacts, and coordinate with Leasing Agents, tenants, and professionals;
  • Ensure that all processes and approvals with authorities are completed according to the established schedule;
  • Ensure the smooth progress of construction activities by providing high-level oversight in collaboration with the Construction team;
  • Intervene on-site or with professionals to address specific issues requiring resolution;
  • Keep the Director, Construction informed of project progress and any issues related to assigned construction projects;
  • Conduct regular site visits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering, or a college diploma in Architectural Technology;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar role, preferably with a developer, real estate owner/operator, general contractor, or similar organization;
  • Strong knowledge of various building construction systems.
