We are looking for a talented Project Manager to join one of our major Defence programmes based in Glasgow. You will play a key role in delivering complex infrastructure and construction projects within a highly regulated environment, supporting critical national capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced client and delivery teams, leading projects through the early design and development stages and into delivery, while helping Mace redefine the boundaries of ambition.
Due to the nature of this Defence project, candidates must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC). Existing SC clearance is highly desirable.
Please note: This role requires attendance at the client office in Glasgow three days per week.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Championing Mace's safety-first value, ensuring exceptional safety, quality, programme, sustainability and compliance standards.
- Managing project delivery through the early project lifecycle, with a particular focus on RIBA Stages 2, 3 and 4.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary teams and supporting effective design management activities to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Managing project controls, reporting, risk, cost and schedule activities, providing clear and accurate updates to stakeholders.
- Supporting the delivery of projects within highly regulated environments, ensuring compliance with relevant governance and assurance requirements.
- Working closely with client, contractor and consultant teams to ensure effective stakeholder integration and collaboration.
- Managing contractor performance, design coordination and the resolution of technical issues.
- Supporting change control processes and ensuring project information is maintained accurately and consistently.
- Producing and presenting project reports, dashboards and performance updates to senior stakeholders.
- Contributing to continuous improvement, lessons learned and best practice across the project team.
- Supporting project delivery activities associated with explosive safety requirements and regulated Defence environments.
You’ll need to have:
- Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent qualification relevant to project management, engineering, construction or the built environment.
- Proven experience delivering construction projects within complex environments.
- Demonstrable experience progressing projects through RIBA Stages 2, 3 and 4.
- Strong design management experience within a client, consultant or contractor environment.
- Experience of project controls, reporting, risk and programme management.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple organisations and disciplines.
- NEC4 experience is essential, with NEC4 accreditation highly desirable.
- Experience working within highly regulated sectors such as Defence, Nuclear, Infrastructure, Transport or Government.
- Knowledge or experience relating to Explosive Safety Regulations.
- Membership (or working towards membership) of a relevant professional body such as APM, RICS or CIOB.
- Excellent communication, organisational and coordination skills.
- Ability to obtain (or currently hold) the appropriate Security Clearance.
