Why we need you

As Omise continues to scale our products and platforms across Asia, our product teams are growing to support increasing complexity and impact. We are seeking a strategic and technically adept Technical Product Owner to drive the agile delivery of our Unity Platform. This role owns the product backlog and partners closely with the Scrum team to translate business needs into clear, actionable user stories, ensuring merchants, partners, and internal teams have seamless, secure, and efficient tools for onboarding, account management, and day-to-day operations.

What you will be doing

Product Strategy & Roadmap

Communicate and share the product vision and roadmap for the merchant/partner portal, onboarding experience, and internal customer management system, translating strategic priorities into a well-groomed, prioritized product backlog that aligns with company goals and customer needs.

Product Backlog Management

  • Own and continuously groom the product backlog, prioritizing items by business value, customer impact, and technical dependencies.
  • Write clear, well-defined user stories and acceptance criteria that translate business requirements into actionable, sprint-ready work.

Sprint Planning & Execution

  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and estimation sessions with the Scrum team, ensuring stories are clearly scoped and estimable.
  • Define sprint goals and confirm backlog items meet the definition of ready before each sprint begins.

Agile Ceremonies & Team Collaboration

  • Attend and actively contribute to daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, representing the voice of the customer throughout the development cycle.
  • Partner with the Engineering Team to remove blockers, manage dependencies, and support continuous improvement in team velocity and delivery quality.

Stakeholder Collaboration 

  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Onboarding, Merchant/Partner Support, Compliance, and Risk teams to gather input and validate backlog priorities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between stakeholders and the Scrum team, managing expectations on scope, priority, and delivery timelines.

Customer-Centric Development

  • Analyze customer feedback and usage data to inform backlog prioritization and story creation.
  • Review completed work against acceptance criteria each sprint, accepting or rejecting increments to ensure products meet usability, reliability, and compliance standards.

Compliance & Security

  • Ensure the merchant/partner portal, onboarding flows, and internal customer management system comply with PCI-DSS, GDPR, and other relevant regulations.
  • Partner with InfoSec and Legal teams to manage risk and data privacy.

You

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in product management or product ownership, with at least 2 years operating as a Product Owner in an Agile/Scrum environment, ideally within fintech, payments, or B2B portal/onboarding products.

Technical Proficiency 

  • Understanding of APIs, SDKs, cloud infrastructure, and microservices.
  • Familiarity with payment processing systems and merchant/partner portals.

Product Expertise

  • Experience with onboarding, reporting and transaction flows.
  • Knowledge of virtual terminals, POS systems, hosted payment pages, and payment gateways. 

Tools & Methodologies

Deep proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies, including backlog management, user story writing, acceptance criteria, and sprint ceremonies. Experience with backlog and delivery tools like Jira, Confluence, Figma, Postman, and analytics platforms. Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled at writing clear acceptance criteria and definitions of done to align engineering and stakeholder expectations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent Agile certification (e.g., Professional Scrum Product Owner).
  • Experience with merchant or partner onboarding workflows, KYC/KYB, and account management systems.
  • Familiarity with UX/UI design collaboration for self-service portals and internal admin/back-office tools.
