Job Overview
The Project Management & Business Analysis Internship at LPL Financial is designed for highly organized, analytical students who are passionate about driving business outcomes through technology, process improvement, and strategic execution. This role provides hands-on experience supporting enterprise initiatives that enhance advisor experiences, improve operational efficiency, and advance LPL's digital transformation efforts.
Successful candidates bring a structured approach to problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and project execution. They are skilled at breaking down complex business challenges, gathering and documenting requirements, and translating insights into actionable recommendations. Interns will collaborate across business and technology teams to support project delivery, process optimization, and strategic initiatives while gaining exposure to Agile methodologies, data-driven decision making, and emerging technologies, including AI-powered solutions.
Responsibilities
- Support project planning, execution, and governance activities across technology and business initiatives.
- Gather, analyze, document, and validate business and functional requirements from key stakeholders.
- Create process flows, business requirements documents (BRDs), user stories, and workflow diagrams to support solution design and implementation.
- Analyze current business processes and identify opportunities for operational improvement, automation, and enhanced advisor experiences.
- Assist in tracking project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and action items to ensure successful project execution.
- Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, product managers, technology teams, and business stakeholders to support project outcomes.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Support testing activities, user acceptance testing (UAT), defect management, and solution validation efforts.
- Develop project status reports, presentations, executive summaries, and other communication materials for leadership and stakeholder audiences.
- Conduct data analysis and research to support business cases, process improvements, resource planning, and strategic initiatives.
- Explore opportunities to leverage AI, automation, and digital capabilities to improve operational efficiency and business processes.

Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in; Business Administration, Management Information Systems (MIS), Business Analytics, Project Management, Industrial Engineering, Related field
- Available to work from one of LPL Financial's primary office locations.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other business productivity tools.
- Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Interest in AI, intelligent automation, digital transformation, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC) and technology delivery processes.
- Experience conducting data analysis, business research, or process improvement projects.
- Interest in financial services, wealth management, or fintech solutions.

Hourly Rate:
$25.00-$30.00 per hour
The hourly amount is dependent on a number of factors, including the applicant’s skill, experience, and work location.
