Job Overview
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Application Development Manager, the Sr. Associate Full-Stack Engineer – Custom develops, tests, and maintains applications with increasing independence. This position builds on foundational skills by working on more complex features, participating more actively in the development lifecycle, and beginning to assist junior team members.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designs, codes, and implements medium‑to‑complex features and enhancements, leveraging AI‑assisted development tools to improve productivity, quality, and maintainability.
- Participates in and contributes meaningful feedback during code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards, best practices, and responsible use of AI‑generated code.
- Works independently on tasks within defined project scope, using AI tools for research, prototyping, optimization, and problem‑solving when appropriate.
- Writes comprehensive unit tests and supports automated testing, including the use of AI tools to help identify test cases and edge scenarios.
- Prepares clear technical documentation, updating design details, implementation notes, and tracking records, including AI‑assisted contributions.
- Supports Agile processes by actively participating in ceremonies, providing accurate updates, and identifying opportunities to apply AI to drive workflow efficiency.
- Provides guidance to junior developers, helping them adopt software engineering best practices and responsible AI usage.
- Troubleshoots and resolves issues across development and testing environments with minimal supervision, applying AI‑enabled diagnostics where helpful.
- Stays current with emerging software development, AI, and team technologies, recommending improvements to enhance system performance, quality, or developer productivity.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, engineering or a related field.
- One (1) to two (2) years of experience in software development, system design, and cloud deployments.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Front‑end development using modern frameworks (React, Angular, or similar)
- Back‑end development using languages such as Java, .NET, or Node.js
- API development and integrations with REST/SOAP services
- Experience working with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server) and solid understanding of data modeling
- Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and DevOps methodologies
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills
- Understanding of secure coding practices and application security principles
- Ability to lead technical efforts, mentor junior developers, and influence solution design
- Ability to use AI‑assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity, testing, and documentation
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver in a fast‑paced environment
DESIRABLE
- Basic understanding of Appian low‑code development concepts, including interfaces, process models, records, and data types.
- Ability to navigate Appian Designer and work with standard Appian components under guidance.
- Familiarity with building or modifying simple Appian applications, forms, or workflow automations.
- Understanding of Appian best practices for application design, performance, and maintainability.
- Willingness to learn Appian development, Appian SAIL, Appian integrations, and Appian DevOps processes.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport's Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
