Description & Requirements

Electronic Arts creates next-level entertainment experiences that inspire players and fans around the world. Here, everyone is part of the story. Part of a community that connects across the globe. A place where creativity thrives, new perspectives are invited, and ideas matter. A team where everyone makes play happen.

This role can be based out of our Austin, TX, and Vancouver, BC offices, or open to other core hub locations in the US/Canada.

Who We Are

EA Information Technology (EAIT) powers the technology that connects our global workforce and supports every part of our business, from game development to marketing, publishing, security, and player experience. We create secure, scalable solutions that help teams collaborate and innovate in order to create better experiences for players worldwide.

What We Do

You will report to a Senior Technical Director within the Game Developer Experience (GDX) team. We build and scale the continuous integration (CI) ecosystem that powers builds and preflight systems across multiple EA games. GDX focuses on delivering a CI platform that is optimised for performance, cost, and the evolving needs of game development teams.

As Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead the engineering team that is building EA's next-generation Enterprise CI platform for games on a Frostbite-based foundational tech stack. You'll work with us and our studio partners to improve reliability, scalability, and efficiency across our build platform, and you'll grow the engineers who build it.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, hire, and develop a team of DevOps and build engineers through coaching, performance management, career development, and succession planning.
  • Own the execution, delivery, and operation of our CI platform, including CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps), build infrastructure, and preflight systems.
  • Set engineering standards for design reviews, code quality, testing, and production readiness.
  • Set the technical direction and roadmap for the next-generation Enterprise CI platform, including the migration of build and release to hybrid on-premises and cloud, while balancing performance, cost, and the needs of our game teams.
  • Drive infrastructure automation and scale across cloud and on-premises environments using Terraform, Packer, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
  • Build strong operational practices, including service ownership, observability, incident management, security, capacity planning, and service-level objectives (SLOs).
  • Partner with game studios, product managers, and engineering leaders to align priorities, and present progress and decisions to senior leadership.
  • Plan team capacity and workforce needs as GDX priorities evolve.

What You Bring

  • 8+ years in software engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure, including 3+ years managing engineers directly.
  • Experience building, scaling, and operating CI/CD systems, cloud infrastructure, or internal developer platforms that support multiple engineering teams.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, containers, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Strong understanding of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, including reliability, scalability, security, and incident management.
  • A track record of measurable improvements to reliability, build performance, operational efficiency, or developer productivity.
  • Experience building and retaining high-performing teams through hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Clear communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to drive outcomes across engineering, product, infrastructure, and studio teams.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and Perforce, or with large-scale game build systems, is a plus. Strong experience with other CI/CD or DevOps platforms, such as Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub Actions, is equally valued.
