Our Military Aircraft Group is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager – Automation to lead the development and deployment of next-generation manufacturing technologies that will shape the future of aerospace production.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key leadership role in Moog's transition to our new Advanced Integrated Manufacturing (AIM) facility, where advanced automation, robotics, digital manufacturing, and emerging technologies will enhance productivity, quality, and operational excellence.

As the leader of our Automation Engineering team, you'll work closely with manufacturing, operations, engineering, quality, and technology partners to identify, develop, and implement innovative solutions that transform how we build mission-critical aerospace products.

To be considered for Manufacturing Engineering Manager – Automation, here’s what you’ll typically bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering, industrial automation, robotics, controls engineering, advanced manufacturing, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, projects, or engineering initiatives.
  • Experience implementing automation technologies within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, industrial automation systems, robotics, controls, software systems, and electromechanical technologies.
  • Familiarity with Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) frameworks.
  • Proven ability to drive results in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10-15%.

It’s preferred if you bring:

  • Aerospace, defense, automotive, medical device, or other highly regulated manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with industrial robotics, machine vision, laser applications, optics, inspection systems, or metrology technologies.
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0, Smart Manufacturing, Digital Manufacturing, and AI-enabled manufacturing solutions.
  • Programming or software development experience related to manufacturing systems, robotics, controls, or automation.
  • Experience with Siemens NX or similar CAD platforms.
  • Experience working with automation suppliers, system integrators, and capital equipment projects.

As Manufacturing Engineering Manager – Automation, you will:

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing automation engineering team supporting manufacturing operations in East Aurora.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement automation technologies that improve productivity, quality, safety, and manufacturing performance.
  • Lead automation projects from concept development through production deployment, including planning, testing, validation, and implementation.
  • Develop and execute automation roadmaps aligned with business objectives and our transition into Moog's Advanced Integrated Manufacturing (AIM) facility.
  • Partner with manufacturing, operations, quality, and engineering teams to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
  • Manage project priorities, resources, schedules, technical requirements, and external suppliers to ensure successful execution.
  • Apply Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) methodologies to support technology development and deployment.
  • Research emerging manufacturing technologies, including robotics, machine vision, digital manufacturing, and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on throughput, product quality, process capability, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate across Moog sites, business units, and functional teams to share best practices and advance automation initiatives.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $140,000.00–$190,000.00 Annually Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
